A Bibliography of Spiritual Warfare

UPDATE: 3/16/13: The documentary The Rite of Exorcism (2011) clearly displays how much more developed the theology and experience of exorcism is developed in the Roman Catholic Church, more than anything in the Pentecostal churches. However, I would use Catholic exorcism theology as a supplement to Charismatic theologies, not as a contradiction. I don’t approve of reliance on prayers to Mary in Catholic exorcism. See Matt Baglio’s The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist (2010); see also the Catholic Charismatic book Deliverance from Evil Spirits: A Practical Manual (1995) by Francis MacNutt, which refers to the rite of exorcism several times, and is recommended by John Wimber. The other books on the list below don’t even refer to the Catholic rite of exorcism, and hence I think that means their just “winging it” without any historical-experiential chart. Therefore, Catholic Charismatics are ahead of the game, as far as exorcism is concerned.

I feel like God might be calling my wife and I into the deliverance ministry, or the ministry of casting out demons. I don’t know when this will be, but I assume it will be in a few years. Meanwhile, Lord willing, I’m going to be pretty busy studying about demons, spiritual warfare, and deliverance. Here is a catalog of resources. Anything from demonbuster.comImpact Christian Books, WRW Publications, The Children’s Bread Ministry, and Lake Hamilton Bible Camp definitely takes a high priority in deliverance. There is a lot I have to learn from the “deliverance movement” of the 1970s and the “spiritual warfare movement” of the 1980s.

  1. Another possible resource for you is that of Scott and Shari Norvell’s ministry. They teach about “changing the atmosphere” through applying the blood of Jesus. They head up the Tulsa Healing Rooms. Scott centers on deliverance (along with the seer anointing) and Shari has a focus on intercession. There is a video on their website that gives an overview of their teaching. The bulk of the teaching is under Media (free login required). http://www.terra4ming.com/
