J. Gilchrist Lawson, Deeper Experiences of Famous Christians (Warner Press, 1911), pp. 215-226. Lorenzo Dow was an early Methodist evangelist who had many dreams and visions from God, including a Hell dream that came after agonizing prayer, and compelled him into Methodist circuit preaching. He preached hard and heavy against sin like Leonard Ravenhill did, was opposed and criticized heavily by Methodist leaders for preaching so hard against sin; and his meetings were often marked by outpourings of the Holy Spirit that made his scoffers go into Quaker jerks to punish them for their blasphemy.
