Dr. Dennis Kinlaw came to be president of Asbury Theological Seminary at the same time the Holy Spirit poured out for the Asbury Revival in 1970. In 1980, ten years after, Kinlaw was burdened that the spirit of evangelical Wesleyanism needed to be revived; and so Francis Asbury Press was founded in 1980 and books on Wesleyan-holiness started to be printed. Here’s a few of my favorites…
1980 – Harald Lindstrom’s Wesley and Sanctification.
1985 – James Earl Massey’s Spiritual Disciplines.
1985 – John Peters’ Christian Perfection and American Methodism.
1985 – Carl Bangs’ Arminius: A Study in the Dutch Reformation.
1986 – Wesley Duewel’s Touch the World Through Prayer.
1986 – Timothy Smith’s Whitefield and Wesley on the New Birth.
1987 – Keith Drury’s Holiness for Ordinary People.
1987 – Donald Dayton’s Theological Roots of Pentecostalism.
1988 – W. E. Sangster’s The Pattern of Prayer.
1988 – Thomas C. Oden’s Doctrinal Standards in the Wesleyan Tradition.
1988 – Alan Walker’s Evangelistic Preaching.
1988 – John Deschner’s Wesley’s Christology: An Interpretation.
1989 – Richard Taylor’s Principles of Pastoral Success.
1989 – Wesley Duewel’s Ablaze for God.
1989 – Kenneth Collins’ Wesley on Salvation.
1989 – Robert Tuttle’s Mysticism in the Wesleyan Tradition.
1989 – Frank Stanger’s Spiritual Formation in the Local Church.
1990 – Robert Coleman’s Nothing to Do But to Save Souls.
