So does the Holy Spirit work spiritually in some way when you read the Bible? That is, it creates spiritual sanctification – or do you need extra stuff like morality and meditation?
“Five Views on Sanctification” is book that could answer that better than I could, but I believe that Bible study and Bible obedience does make a person holier. John 17:17: “Sanctify them by the truth; your Word is truth.”
Is there a reason why you seek meditation or contemplation to experience God in some way more than you can get from simply just reading the Bible?
