A Revival Poem – John Boruff

Awaken the Strength Eternal
Release it against our immortal foe;
Spirits appear, infernal
We shall prevail through Jesus!

O God! Rain down Your Spirit!
Come down and be with us!
As in the days of revival
Reform us! Revive us! Renew us!

I don’t want seeker-sensitive candy
Give me the Gospel!
You can’t program me–I’m no robot
Show me how to be holy!

Visions come and visions go
But are you paying attention?
And voices also speak to your soul

But are you listening?

Hell has enlarged her mouth
Gaping wide to swallow the wicked
Do you believe in that?
Are you saved?

The law of the Lord is perfect
It converts the soul
Yet the law is slacked
It is demeaned, maligned, and scoffed

When, O God! When!?
Move upon the nations!
Holy Spirit–shock them to LIFE!
Because Jesus DIED for their salvation!

Rebuke the carnal and the wicked!
Make them tremble with the fear of Hell
We can’t go on like this!
We are drowning in our sins!

Sin now–Hell later.
Pleasure now–fire later.
Repent now–Heaven later.
Faith now–joy later.
