I just woke up from a terrifying dream about greed and materialism. It was really a word of warning for me. Nevertheless, I think the basic advice of Jesus can be helpful for anyone on this matter (especially in times of job seeking):
Matt. 10:39: “Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”
Luke 8:14: “The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.”
Luke 12:15: “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
Matt. 19:21: “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven. Then come, follow Me.”
Luke 6:20: “Looking at His disciples, He said: ‘Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the Kingdom of God.'”
Matt. 6:24: “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.”
