How the Southern Baptist Church compares to the Wesleyan churches on easy-believism, antinomianism, and cessationism. Although Paul Washer is SBC, and he’s probably like a 9 or 10 on the first two, he’s sort of an outsider within the SBC; and I’ve got truckloads of respect for him. But the lived experience of Southern Baptists almost always results in two spiritual errors: antinomianism and cessationism. A complacent attitude about obedience to the Bible; and resistance to any relationship with the Holy Spirit. Arminian alternatives to the Southern Baptist Church–Church of the Nazarene, Assemblies of God, the Free Will Baptist Church, the Wesleyan Church, Church of God (Cleveland, TN), the Bible Methodist Church, and the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
