12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to Hell, to the sides of the pit. –Isaiah 14:12-15 (KJV)–
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. –Philippians 2:3-4 (KJV)–
Part 3, 11:50 – Not to lend credence to friendship evangelism. I doubt the authenticity of JP’s conversion, but it’s true that he said those things. Chris eventually backslid into skepticism and I never heard from him again. –J.B.
I do not know how it is, but this simple doctrine is the hardest doctrine to make plain. It seems so easy, and yet many will mystify and doubt. “What, no good works, no good feelings!” All these things are fruits of grace; but salvation does not depend upon them. Salvation is in Christ, wholly in Christ, in Christ alone, and the moment any of you do trust him unfeignedly to be your sole and only Saviour you have accepted God’s propitiation, and God has accepted you. It is not possible for the Lord, unless he could reverse his nature, stain his honour, belie his character, make his word a farce, and the atonement of Christ a falsehood, to reject any man under heaven who believes in Christ, and takes him to be his all in all. This day is called Good Friday; may it be a good Friday to some of you. Perhaps I have some here to whom I have preached these last seven years, and yet you have remained unsaved. I am clear of your blood if you had only heard but this one morning sermon, for God witnesseth I know not how to put the plan of salvation more plainly than I have done. “God hath set forth Christ to be a propitiation through his blood.” I bid you look to Christ bleeding, to Christ sweating drops of blood, Christ scourged, Christ nailed to the tree, and if you believe in Christ’s blood he is the propitiation of your sins. –Charles Spurgeon–
13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. 17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. –James 5:13-18 (NIV)–

Your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. –1 Corinthians 2:5 (NKJV)–
You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. –Matthew 22:29 (NKJV)–
Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us? –Luke 24:32 (NKJV)–
He might have said, “These philosophers are very wise men; if I would be a match for them, I must be very wise, too. These Corinthians are a very noble race of people; they have been for a long time under the tuition of these talented men. I must speak as they speak, in enigmas and with many sophisms; I must always be propounding some dark problem. I need not live in the tub of Diogenes; but if I take his lantern, I may do something with it; I must try and borrow some of his wisdom. I have a profound philosophy to preach to these clever people; and if I liked to preach that philosophy, I should dash in pieces all their theories concerning mental and moral science. I have found out a wondrous secret, and I might stand in the midst of the marketplace, and cry, ‘Eureka, Eureka,’ ‘I have found it,’ but I do not care to build my gospel upon the foundation of human wisdom. No, if any are brought to believe in Christ, it shall be from the simple unadorned gospel, plainly preached in unpolished language. The faith of my hearers, if they are converted to God, shall not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” –Charles Spurgeon, “Christ Crucified” (Part 2)–

Rocks thud against battered bodies One must die to see life Take me Strike me down Let me bleed Let them see
Rejoicing in what’s happened to me Let my screams attract you all
My call is your great fall One must sacrifice his life to save his tribe Better one than all Captured by a lie And put to death by his own brother
Take me in, strike me down I will pay for your life With my blood and my pain, you will be saved from death By my price I paid for your sins on the cross I will purify you and give you life
My sin, my shame, takes its toll on my heart Oh how I long to be pure Purify me Lord, take my pain away Purify me take my pain away Daddy where are you? Take my pain away Cover me in your precious blood I came to this world I bled I will save your soul I bled I will give you new life I bled I will give you peace now I bled –Mortal Treason, “Khampa Nomads”–
