Sanctification and Christian Liberties

This gravity
Is feeling like a tether
I want to want to be
So high above the weather

All frequency around
Round, round, round, round
Without a sound

And there’s today
And there’s two spaces
And too many places
Not to go to, ooh

This big old sea
Is feeling like a pleasure
I look cautiously
At all the falling treasure

With some frequency it comes down
Down, down, down, down
Without a sound

And there’s today
And there’s two spaces
And too many places
Not to go to, ooh

–Frank Black, “Two Spaces”–

Be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
–Romans 12:2 (KJV)–

Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you.

The Royal Prerogative – Charles Spurgeon

I come to You oh Lord
With a thankful heart
I sing my song of love
And praise for who You are

For You oh Lord are a great God
Glorious and strong
You oh Lord are a great God
I worship You alone

I bring to You oh Lord
A sacrifice of praise
And of Your wondrous works
I’ll sing for all my days

For You oh Lord are a great God
Glorious and strong
You oh Lord are a great God
I worship You alone

–Vineyard Music, “You Oh Lord Are A Great God”–

9:50 – At one point, it might seem that I am preaching against all evangelical exegesis done by biblical preachers. I’m not, but what I’m trying to say is that the cessationist worldview of many pastors, seems to reduce contextual biblical hermeneutics, down to a naturalistic procedure, in which a teaching is faithfully extracted from the historical background of the Bible, but there’s also along with this, simply a mentality of fact-learning rather than a mentality that the Holy Ghost is directly speaking into your life through the inspired Scriptures. This latter view was held by the reformers, the Puritans, Wesley, Spurgeon, Finney, etc. –J.B.

Why Do Some Christians Not Have Any Spiritual Experiences?

The natural person DOES NOT ACCEPT the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
–1 Corinthians 2:14 (ESV)–

You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: YOU ALWAYS RESIST the Holy Spirit! Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute?
–Acts 7:51-52 (NIV)–

Today, if you will hear His voice,
DO NOT HARDEN your hearts as in the rebellion.

–Hebrews 3:15 (NKJV)–

The Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever.”
–Genesis 6:3 (NKJV)–

The Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.
–Acts 5:32 (NIV)–

Follow the way of love and EAGERLY DESIRE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT, especially prophecy. For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.
–1 Corinthians 14:1-3 (NIV)–

In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see VISIONS,
your old men will dream DREAMS.

–Acts 2:17 (NIV)–

He wrote down the substance of his dream.
–Daniel 7:1 (NIV)–

Write the vision
and make it plain on tablets.

–Habakkuk 2:2 (NKJV)–

Were not our hearts burning within us
while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?

–Luke 24:32 (NIV)–

In the evening I went very unwillingly to a society in Aldersgate Street, where one was reading Luther’s preface to the Epistle to the Romans. About a quarter before nine, while he was describing the change which God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I FELT MY HEART STRANGELY WARMED. I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone, for salvation; and an assurance was given me that He had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death.
–John Wesley–

Begin to tell the people
what you have felt in your own heart,
and beseech the Holy Spirit
to make your heart as hot as a furnace for zeal.

–Charles Spurgeon–

O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known;
