Supernatural Theology 26: Spiritual But Not Religious

I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the Gospel I preached is not of human origin. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.   –Galatians 1:11-12

When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.   –Matthew 6:5-6

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. –1 Corinthians 2:14

We know that the Law is spiritual. –Romans 7:14

Unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. –Matthew 5:20

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! –Matthew 23:13

The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, and that there are neither angels nor spirits, but the Pharisees believe all these things. –Acts 23:8

“You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things?” –John 3:10
