Question, in relations to contemplation, what is your view on breath prayers. Breathe prayers are like a the practice of repeating a certain phrase, in prayer throughout the day. Is that like similar to the Jesus prayer of meditation or is breath prayers something very different than meditation or contemplation?

    • Breath prayers come from the Eastern Orthodox saints. I’d say it falls into the category of “discursive meditation.” Its basically forming a mental picture of breathing in the Holy Spirit. There’s nothing wrong with that. Jesus told us to abide in Him (John 15). Although I’d think it might get sort of exhausting.
