Heavenly Lights

James 1:17: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.”

A lullaby adapted from Donovan’s “Queen Mab.”

Am
A little angel comes at night,
Am                              Em
Its light is blue but mostly white
Am                                 G
With thoughts of God upon its wings
Am
And from the heavens it flutters down.

So it comes to be in our company
And when a good child goes to bed
It lightens down to show good things
And makes a circle ’round its head.

And then it dreams of heav’nly things,
Of fountains filled with the blood of Christ
A Tree of Life: twelve kinds of fruit
A reward for the saints bought with a price.

Of hills and fields more fresh than Spring,
And lovely blooms that never fade,
A golden light across the sky
And glowing angels in the shade

Lions and snakes playing with the young
Such things used to be only tales
Jesus walks along the side
With crowds of friends among dales.
