Angel Sparkles: Visions That Confirm Revelations – John Boruff

Supernatural Lights – This is mainly a study of angelic lights, but also takes a look at the shekinah glory of God and demonic lights, for the sake of spiritual discernment. Today, many charismatics and New Agers are seeing supernatural lights, and its important to know how to interpret and respond to them. 36 pages.

I want to share about “angel sparkles.” My wife and I have been seeing these since 2008 or so, and almost once a week at least. And we have crossed paths with other prophetic people who have seen them too. “Angel sparkles” is the best term that we have been able to come up with to describe this experience. This might be the closest thing in Scripture to it: “They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them” (Acts 2:3).

Granted, we’re not seeing any lights shaped like tongues. But they are still fiery lights that appear out of thin air. (You will remember that God–who is made of Spirit like the angels–became a pillar of fire during the Exodus–Exod. 13:21.) And “He makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire” (Heb. 1:7). Most of the time, they are bright white little lights that appear out of thin air when we are talking or thinking about theology, God, the Bible, faith, the Christian life, etc. They appear sometimes on Christian books as I read sentences. They appear when my wife or friends talk about Jesus–to highlight that the things we say are inspired by God (when the apparitions come).

Angels are referred to as “lights” and “stars” in the Bible. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights” (Jas. 1:17). Light is symbolic of illumination, revelation, and knowledge. I believe James was speaking of spiritual gifts–particularly revelation gifts that involve angels, dreams, and visions. There have been times when I have seen angel sparkles in dreams, and also with my eyes closed in inner visions. “While the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy” (Job 38:7). And this is what they are–they are bright like stars (which makes me wonder about the Star of Bethlehem). Angels are creatures of light. These angel sparkles will appear out of the thin air, while our eyes are open–they look like little Christmas lights (usually white ones, sometimes blue, sometimes orange, etc). They flash like little bright LED lights for one second, like a tiny little camera flash. Most of the time, they are white. They vary in size. For me, most of the time they are no larger than a pinpoint. Sometimes, they are as large as a dime or a quarter. My wife has seen them even larger than this, sometimes in the shape of a mist, spreading out several feet in front of her. They prefer to appear at night, but can appear at any time of day.

One of my favorite books on charismatic or prophetic church history, is Jacobus de Voragine’s The Golden Legend, written in 1260. He referred to “angel sparkles” too, except he didn’t use our special term.

In volume 1 (William Ryan’s version), he speaks of the funeral of SAINT AMBROSE (4th c.): “When his body was transported to the cathedral on the night of Easter, a number of baptized children saw the saint. Some of them saw him seated on the episcopal throne, some pointed him out to their parents as he went up to it; still others told how they had seen a star above his body” (p. 234).

Again, another “angel sparkle” occurrence on the martyrdom site of ST. PETER MARTYR (13th c.): “Many religious men and women and numbers of other people have seen lights descending from Heaven over the site of the martyrdom, and have testified that they saw two friars in Dominican habits surrounded by these lights” (p. 260).

In volume 2 there are more examples. Here’s one from SAINT DOMINIC’s infant baptism (13th c.): “When Dominic’s godmother lifted him from the sacred font, it seemed to her that he had on his forehead a brilliant star” (p. 45).

SAINT MARCELLUS (5th c.): “Another night when he was asleep, someone came and awakened him, and, once awake, he saw a star shining in the entrance to his cell. He got up and tried to touch the star, but it quickly moved to another part of the cave, and he followed it until it came to rest over the spot where John the Baptist’s head was buried” (p. 138).

SAINT DENIS’ martyrdom (3rd c.): “Instantly the body of Saint Dionysius stood up, took his head in its arms, and, with an angel and a heavenly light leading the way, marched two miles” (p. 240).

High Priest BreastplateIn light of Robert’s comment below, I find it an interesting possibility that visions of multi-colored angel sparkles could be a New Testament version of the high priest’s breastplate in the Old Testament. Each of the twelve tribes of Israel had a special stone color, with a special symbolic significance. If angels attempt to communicate to us through colors, at least we have a precedent: God has laid down a pattern of certain colors having a prophetic significance in the Bible. And with Jesus as our High Priest (Heb. 7:24-26), it would make sense that Christians, who are all priests by faith (1 Pet. 2:5), would have angelic ministering spirits, to communicate revelation to the saints by means of those same colors which had significance to the priests of the Old Testament.

ST. COLUMBA (d. 597): “A great heavenly light was seen to shine above him by several of the brethren on separate occasions, both at night and in broad daylight…poised over the face of the sleeping child was a fiery ball of lightI saw a very bright column of fiery light going in front of the man of God whom you despise, and holy angels as his companions…how great and special were his experiences of angelic visits and heavenly lightthe place where his bones rest is still visited by the light of Heaven and by numbers of angels” (Adomnan of Iona, Life of St. Columba, pp. 110, 206-07, 233).

Both Robert Fleming, the Covenanter biographer, and Adomnan saw “angel sparkles,” or “bright lights,” or “heavenly lights” as angelic manifestations, and as closely associated with open visions of angels. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights” (Jas. 1:17). It seems “HEAVENLY LIGHTS” is the more Biblical and traditional expression. The Golden Legend also uses the phrases HEAVENLY LIGHTS and STARS for this phenomenon: not “angel sparkles,” which admittedly sounds a bit irreverent, casual, or overly familiar. Also, the “very bright column of fiery light” mentioned above makes me think of Exodus 13:21: “By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.”

ST. SYMEON THE NEW THEOLOGIAN (d. 1022) – Greek Orthodox: The unique thing about St. Symeon is that he is not having visions of angelic lights, but visions of the shekinah glory of God (or kabod), or seeing the light of the Holy Spirit. He also writes a lot about why he believes this to be so; and that the practice of contemplation (or hesychasm) leads to this glorious experience of God’s light. His biographer said that Symeon saw “the Holy Spirit as an infinite and formless light descending upon him…he lost all awareness of his surroundings and forgot that he was in a house…he saw nothing but light all around.” He said that the light would come at different times, like when he was reading theology, standing before the icon of Mary (as a Protestant I can’t quite agree with that), praying the Trisagion, and while worshiping God with the Lord’s Supper. “Symeon speaks of the light waxing and waning, appearing first as a star, then growing until it is like the sun in brilliance, and finally once again withdrawing”; and he describes it as “the energy and power of His all-Holy Spirit, in other words, His light.”

He also believed it was possible to experience transfiguration in this life, just like Jesus did on the Mount of Transfiguration, where the apostles saw His glory (Luke 9:32). He said, “I partook of the light, yea and became light, beyond every passion and outside every evil.” His Biblical support for Christians being able to experience transfiguration comes from John 17:22: “The glory which You gave me I have given them.” Turning from his own personal experience of divine light, he turns to the Bible and the Desert Fathers for further confirmation: the pillar of fire (Exod. 13:21), the glory of God that filled the temple of Solomon (1 Kings 8:10-11), the vision of Isaiah 6:1-5, glory in Ezekiel 10:18-22; 11:22-23; and 43:1-5, the mercy seat of the ark of the covenant (Exod. 19; Lev. 10:1-3; 16:2; 2 Sam. 6:4-7), Moses‘ encounters with it (Exod. 24:5), and esp. 34:29-35, which says in v. 30, “When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him.” Then we have the example of when Jesus appeared in light to Paul on the road to Damascus, blinding him and knocking him off his horse (Acts 9:3-4), Stephen saw the glory of God before he was martyred (Acts 7:55), the glory of God is said to give visible light to New Jerusalem (Rev. 15:8; 21:23), and Paul says that Christians contemplate and then see the glory of God in a vision: “We all, with unveiled face, beholding (contemplating, katoptrizomai) as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Cor. 3:18).

Like most theologians, he believed the Acts 2:3 tongues of fire were the light of the Holy Spirit, and not angels, as I have theorized based on Hebrews 1:7. After Scripture, he turned to the Desert Fathers as preaching the same things about the light: Arsenius was apparently seen engulfed in the fire of the Holy Spirit, Abba Silvanus saw the glory of God and was transfigured by it, Abba Sisoes died while in the glory of God’s light, and once when Abba Joseph was asked how to be saved, he “stood up and stretched out his hands toward heaven. His fingers became like ten lamps of fire, and he said to him, ‘If you will, you can become all flame.'” Isaac of Syria was one of Symeon’s heroes, and he said that usually the glory of God is seen with closed eyes in prayer–closed, interior visions in the mind–but sometimes it can be seen with the physical eyes (Alexander Golitzin, On the Mystical Life, vol. 3, pp. 81-102).

ROBERT BRUCE (d. 1631) – Covenanter: “Fleming also mentions angelic visitations, the audible voice of God, bright lights appearing in the darkness, physical manifestations of the Holy Spirit in meetings…” (Jack Deere, Surprised by the Voice of God, p. 76; Robert Fleming, The Fulfilling of the Scripture, pp. 416, 418-19, 432, 437-40).

solomon-stoddardSOLOMON STODDARD (d. 1729) was the grandfather of Jonathan Edwards; and the forerunner of the Great Awakening that occurred under Edwards’ ministry and preaching. The circular light peeking out behind the pillar in his pastor’s study is apparently an angelic light, symbolizing the revelation, illumination, or enlightenment, that Stoddard had received from the Holy Spirit and the angels. The mere fact that something like this was painted in Stoddard’s pastoral portrait, in color, shows that Stoddard must have not only seen, but believed in manifestations of angelic light orbs, and had taken them seriously.

Branham Pillar of Fire

WILLIAM BRANHAM (c. 1950). Temporarily operating in one of the most revolutionary prophetic healing ministries in modern Pentecostalism, he cooperated with trinitarian Pentecostals from the Assemblies of God, the Church of God, Gordon Lindsay, Stanley Frodsham, and Oral Roberts, from 1947 to the early 1950s. He was a straight shooter in these years and not associated with heretical doctrines. In 1950, an angelic light was caught on camera above his head while he was preaching, just like the portrait of Solomon Stoddard. They called this angel the “Pillar of Fire” (C. Douglas Weaver’s The Healer-Prophet, pp. 72-75). Unfortunately, Branham had a falling out with Lindsay, whom had a stabilizing effect on his theology–and he eventually taught heresies in the 1960s.

Chronologically, it looks like the following saints have seen angelic lights:

1. 33 A.D. – The 120 on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:3).

2. 3rd century – People who saw the martyrdom of St. Denis.

3. 4th century – Children at the funeral of St. Ambrose.

4. 5th century – Pseudo-Dionysius: saw James 1:17 as angel lights (Cel.Hier. ch. 1).

5. 5th century – St. Marcellus guided by angelic light to the head of John the Baptist.

6. 6th century – St. Columba saw many angelic lights in his life.

7. 11th century – St. Symeon saw the shekinah glory of God many times.

8. 13th century – When St. Dominic was “baptized” as a baby.

9. 13th century – Many people by the martyrdom site of St. Peter Martyr.

10. 17th century – Robert Bruce (Covenanter) saw lights appear in the dark.

11. 18th century – Solomon Stoddard (Puritan) has an angelic orb in his portrait.

12. 20th century – William Branham, during the height of his healing ministry, and his cooperation with trinitarian Pentecostals like Gordon Lindsay, had a picture taken of him in 1950 of an angelic bar of light that appeared over his head, which he called the “pillar of fire.” Tragically, in the ’60s, Branham later apostatized and entertained heresies.

13. 20th century – John Paul Jackson (Vineyard / IHOP) taught about angel lights in 1997: this was published later on a CD called Naturally Supernatural and dramatized on It’s Supernatural.

14. 21st century – Larry Randolph (IHOP / Morningstar) said of angels, “You might also see a momentary flash of light out of the corner of your eye or shimmering colors that come and go around you” (Spirit Talk, Morningstar Publications,  2005, p. 34).

15. 21st century – Many charismatics today commenting below on “Angel Sparkles.”

Ghost Lights: Familiar Spirits and Will-o’-the-Wisps

orb-at-graveyardSee this article from It addresses the popular conception of “orbs” as they are often photographed by ghost hunters or paranormal investigators or caught on video in graveyards and haunted houses. In such a scenario, these are demons which the Bible calls “familiar spirits,” which pretend to be the ghosts of the dead, and communicate with mediums and pagan psychics. The idea of ghosts comes from witchcraft, the occult, the New Age, psychics, spiritualism, and mediums. Although it is a popular belief and there are many horror stories, movies, and TV shows about this subject, the Bible makes it quite clear that such things are demonic. Isaiah 8:19-20: “When they say to you, ‘Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,’ should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them.” Leviticus 19:31: “Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.”

In folklore, these orbs are also called ghost lights, will-o’-the-wisps, and even jack-o’-lanterns. I have had three experiences with ghost lights that were demonic. They were not in graveyards, but they did occur on roads that were near graveyards, and near a building where a psychic operated her business. They appeared at times when I was coming under spiritual attack from people on my job. Sometimes when the devil tries to increase his attacks on Christians, you might see an increase of haunting type activities like this. The will-o’-the-wisps that I saw were only designed to scare me and distract me while I was driving to work at night as a security guard. They appeared as large, flying white lights in the sky and would follow me as a drove, about a hundred feet in front of me in the sky, so that I could see them through my windshield as I was driving. They appeared in the sky above cloud cover, like they were hiding in the clouds. They might make you think they are drones or searchlights at first, but when you notice they have no long beams and the fast speed at which they travel, then you will know they are evil spirits. They are historically associated among the Irish as a type of fairy. They have nothing to do with the Gospel, the Bible, or God. They are just ghostly apparitions that leave you afraid or confused. They are territorial spirits I think, because once I left the town of Marietta, Georgia, they stopped following me. Another wisp appeared like a flashlight on a hill at a site I was doing my security rounds at; and when I looked to see, nobody was there. Its a ghostly, haunting experience, and the devil is playing pranks on you, trying to make you afraid or shocked: just be sure to command it to leave you alone in Jesus’ name! The folk stories from the 1800s indicate that will-o’-the-wisps are deceptive demonic lights that capture the attention and mislead their followers down a wrong path, one that leads to danger or trouble.

But don’t let this turn you away from the fact that angelic lights have appeared to Christian saints in the past, and have highlighted thoughts, messages, and revelations which confirm the Bible and the Gospel. Bear in mind that demons and angels alike are ontologically the same type of creatures (spirits, or intelligent conscious beings made of light, 2 Cor. 11:14): its just that demons will always contradict thoughts and concepts that are of the Bible, lordship salvation, and conservative evangelical theology: whereas true angels will confirm these Biblical truths. Demonic lights abound everywhere: in haunted houses and graveyards (spiritualism), UFOs, Hindu gurus (Hinduism), the New Apostolic Reformation (antinomian and universalist charismatics), witches (as fairies), etc. The only legitimate angelic sparkle is one that confirms ORTHODOX THEOLOGY, such as the pre-Reformation Catholic saints, the Covenanters (the Reformation), Solomon Stoddard (Puritanism), and possibly John Paul Jackson. Concepts and thoughts that are enforced by spirits outside the pale of evangelicalism are simply “doctrines of devils” (1 Tim. 4:1).

117 Responses to Angel Sparkles: Visions That Confirm Revelations – John Boruff

  1. Dave W. says:

    Question, John.

How do you apply discernment, testing, etc. to phenomena such as these? It seems like a perfect way for the enemy to mislead through experience. I know you’ve researched it in church history, but it does seem a bit odd. I don’t want to sound snarkey at all. I hope you can see what I’m pondering as I type. Thanks! 🙂

  2. Context. The angel that appears in a situation, perhaps a Christian conversation, or while reading a Christian book, or Biblical passage–to confirm what is being said–is an angel of God. Especially if the topic or revelation is about justification and sanctification.

Shalom! I thank God for you both… I have been alone in my experience of God in this way for many years. I dearly appreciate your courage in this posting, and would deeply appreciate more teaching and guidance. I long to use what I see to serve God better… and love Him more through my faithful service with the body of Christ.

I love to read… Thank you!!! Tonya

      • Julien says:

Hello Tonya. What are you seeing? Do you believe that all humans will be saved in the end?

      • Emm Hobbs says:

Hi everyone, it’s been a couple of years since I last posted and wanted to tell you all about a couple of amazing experiences I had. I was basically asking God to tell me if Yeshua, or Jesus as I then called Him, was the Son of God, it he was real…now, I believe in angels and felt the presence of them before on many occasions and seen visions of them as well, but I NEEDED to know if Yeshua was real. As I closed my eyes and sank into relaxed state I started to see these grid like patterns behind my closed eyes (I’ve seen these a lot before, they used to happen just before a vision or out of body experience which I experienced a lot through my life). So here I was looking at these grids, like perfect lines on a digital backdrop, waiting with anticipation and knowing that something was about to happen and then it was just black, thick blackness and from out of the blackness came a light, a brilliant white light in the shape of a human arm and hand. My heart was pounding I was both afraid and excited. The hand of light reached towards me from the blackness and touched my forehead, and then my heart, then it was gone; and I watched a form take the shape of an arch, like a gothic church window shape; and from the arch came an arm. I could only see the shoulder and the arm and hand which was in a robe-like sleeve and holding a rose towards me. I don’t remember any more but when I awoke I was astonished at the experience. You see, I had been seeing lilies everywhere, in randomly opened pages of my new Bible I had bought in order to search out if Jesus was real, and real lilies, everywhere, and car number plates with JC on them. It had been an amazing week culminating in the hand of light experience and the vision of the arm handing me a rose.

I Googled Lily/Rose, and Jesus’ connection, and the first thing I read was Song of Solomon 2 – “I am the rose of Sharon and the Lilies of the valley. I actually fell to my knees and gave my life to Yeshua that day. Since then, I have wavered and pondered and wondered if it was all just brain manifested: but it was what happened exactly 3 days after the experience that stops me ever moving too far from Yeshua. 3 days after the hand of light experience, I was still wondering if it was an angel I had seen, or Yeshua, or an alien. I simply did not know for sure even then, even though the Song of Solomon verse seemed to fit so perfectly, and the synchronicity of the events preceding it – nevertheless, I pondered and on the third night, I literally just turned off my bedside lamp, and immediately as I did, I saw a full colour image in front of me of Yeshua kneeling before a flower bed in a beautiful garden. He was smelling the scent of a red rose, in that few seconds of the image that I saw, there was a feeling of communication, as if he was saying, “It was Me, all those experiences you had, was Me.” That sealed it for me, but there are days when I question whether or not our mind has the ability to manifest our deepest desires, whether we see truth or we see what we want to see. I just don’t know. Some days I feel certain the experiences were evidence of the reality of Yeshua, and other days I wonder if my mind generated those albeit unexpected experiences. No one really knows for sure about anything because all experiences are personal, and faith is belief in that which is not seen, otherwise there would be no need for faith. Faith is belief and believing makes things happen, so do we manifest what we believe into existence? Like the electron that becomes a particle upon observation, quantum physics. Without the observer the potential or possibilities doesn’t come into being? That doesn’t explain why many people all over the world who are not focused on the spiritual particularly have encounters, visitations, experiences of a divine nature. So my mind goes back and forth wrestling with at sometimes a deep belief, and knowing, and then into doubting. This is the problem with closed visions, but when something happens externally, like seeing an orbs or coloured lights, can physics explain those? Probably, and that doesn’t mean there is no God, because if God is real, He is the supreme scientist, mathematician, physicist. Just some thoughts. Maybe someone out there will understand. Good night and God bless.

      • John Boruff says:

Hi Emm. Jesus loves you and definitely wants you to know that. His Gospel of salvation from Hell-fire is directed to the whole world. All who turn from their sins, and place their trust in His sacrifice on the cross, will have their sins punished on the cross for them. Jesus took the beatings for you, and that gift will be applied to you, so long as you choose to trust in that (this is called justification by faith). Now He wants you to trust in Him and read the Bible and try to live by the teachings of the New Testament. He loves you, and wants you to love Him back, and to live for Him, and honor Him with your life. This is why He keeps communicating to you that He is real and He loves you. It could also mean that you might not have felt as loved as you feel you should have in your life; and now Jesus is stepping in and trying to satisfy that need for you.

Additionally, there’s a few subjects I wanted to speak to that sort of jumped out at me when I read your write up.

        1. Yeshua – There’s nothing wrong with calling Jesus by his Hebrew name, but its just as fine to call Him Jesus. I can tell you from experience that saying “Jesus” will cast out demons if you have nightmares. Its a powerful, supernatural word; and “Jesus” is what most people call Him in the English language; if you go around saying “I believe in Yeshua,” probably most people won’t understand what you mean. Remember Paul said, “I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all; yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue” (1 Cor. 14:18-19).

        2. Aliens – There is no support for the existence of aliens in Scripture. In fact, I believe the alien experiences that people have are demonic, and are meant to confuse and mislead people away from God into a New Age belief system. There are books on the demonic and occult roots of alien encounters, and how praying in the name of Jesus casts these alien and UFO demons out of people’s lives. The Christian movie Unidentified goes into this.

        3. Song of Solomon (Romance) – It depends on the person and what it means to you. If your Song of Solomon and lily experiences had a purity and clean love about them, then they were probably from God. But if there was anything sexual or romantic about them, then those are from the devil. There have been cults over the years that have gone in the sexual direction with these types of visions (like the Children of God). So I’d try to steer clear of romanticizing the Song of Solomon. Many over the years have used the Song of Solomon as an allegory for the love relationship between Christ and the bride of Christ (the church). And I will admit, the bride of Christ is a New Testament concept (Rev. 21:2), but in order to sharpen your spiritual discernment in this area, try to have the strength to reject any supernatural experiences that are romantic or sexual in nature.

        4. Synchronicity – This is a New Age word made by Carl Jung that I’m familiar with and have used before. It simply means a supernatural coincidence that has specific meaning and brings confirmation about some thought that God is wanting you to be aware of. I think using a phrase like “divine coincidence” or even “sign from God,” would be more Christian. I’d try to get away from New Age terms as much as possible, because it scares fellow Christians away.

        5. Figments of the Imagination (Psychology) – John Wesley (one of my heroes) believed that dreams came from three sources: God, the devil, and the soul. Yes, it is possible for you to create mental pictures when your eyes are closed. You can do it right now if you wanted to picture a strawberry. But a closed vision is an interruption of a blank mind, and these probably only come from God or the devil. These are sudden, intrusive, and are not manufactured by you, because you weren’t thinking about them in the first place. They just came out of the blue from nowhere. The Bible calls these visions (as it does “open visions” with the eyes open).

        6. Strange Lights (Physics) – The Northern Lights are an atmospheric phenomenon that happens; and I think there are plants and insects like lightning bugs that have bioluminescence in them. But for a neon flash of light to just appear in the thin air – that has to be a spirit. There is no physics explanation for that – so far as I know. And what is most important for you, would be to examine the context in which these lights are appearing. If there is some rhyme or reason behind them, and you feel these are signals of some type of consistent, intelligible message of thoughts, it would be hard for me to explain those away naturally and deny that spiritual phenomena were occurring.

        7. Supernatural Information (Private Revelation) – With all these subjective experiences, the best way to know if God is speaking to you is to ask yourself, “Are these visions and experiences giving me any useful information?” If the experiences are signaling about things that come to pass in your real working life, and at other places, then you know something really supernatural is going on: things that you are not causing to happen. It can’t just be your mind when you see other things happening that are not psychological in nature. External coincidences and things like that (what we call “confirmations”). That’s when you can be almost sure these mental and psychological experiences are supernatural, and not figments of your imagination, manufactured by your brain wanting to see what it wants to see.

  3. Candice says:

I have been seeing star sparkles/angel sparkles all my life. As I have become older they have become more interactive. They show up often and I feel very blessed and safe. I saw so many back in around ’06. I thought I might be leaving my vehicle for good (die), so I asked them to stop; for I had no outreach at the time like your site to confirm its all good. So I got over my restlessness about leaving, and prayed for them to come back, because they are guides and gifts from good joy and grace.

Peace. May you know God’s gifts more everyday.

I mostly see blue but I see all colours.

    • Sakura says:

Same here! I also saw those lights 😊

I thought i am the only the who saw some sparkles. 😅
I once asked my friends if they also see what i see (during the time when i see sparkles) but she doesn’t see anything.

I always amaze everytime i see those lights around me. And i feel secured.

I saw that since before when i was a child.
I was scared before but thanks to Google for reading an article like this! And to enlighten myself on what I see.

[There is nothing to lose if you believe. 😊]

  4. Robert says:

Hey! I finally found someone who understood that the sparkles were coming according to truth to confirm revelation; anyway, I noticed that the presence of God increased on my life as I began to realize that the presence would often manifest when I was thinking or hearing something grounded in truth. As I pursued and obeyed, actively, the thought or word the Holy spirit moved on the presence of God began to manifest stronger and stronger in my life along with a lot of different sensations in my physical body besides just the blissful presence. I would right them down as much as possible to try and figure out what each manifestation meant. The point is I finally realized that the sparkles worked the same way. I just started keeping up with when they appear and at what thoughts or moments and the color and size. But already they have began to increase tremendously as I record and act or respond accordingly. I have always wanted to see into the kingdom and if my sight encounters follow the same pattern as the presence of the Holy Spirit, I am very excited to see what is coming. I was wondering if you know of any one who has actively followed this path and what he learned. I am not an infant in the Lord, so no need for telling me to make sure my experiences are based in the Word or none of the basic guidelines that are usually taught when teaching on experiencing the Kingdom. I do all of that. Just want to know as much as possible to help me interact with these angels and to increase my faith and knowledge of the Holy Spirit within me.

  5. Peggy says:

I would appreciate a reply. I have seen diamond sparkles and know these to be the presence of angelic beings. In addition to the diamond sparkles I have seen dark dots moving and flying thorough the air. I recognize these as evil spirits.

My question is the very intense laser blue light that I am now seeing when I worship. I have questions about this. Sometimes it will be several feet away from me and sometimes it will be inches from my face. I sense it is very powerful and I wonder if anyone has experienced this and can share what they know.

    Thank you.

    • Blue symbolizes divine revelation (Ira Milligan’s Understanding the Dreams You Dream, p. 86). Given the context of your worship, it either means that an angel is just letting you know that God is real:–or that whatever THOUGHTS are going through your mind at that moment are inspired by God! Praise Jesus!

John Paul Jackson’s Naturally Supernatural CD teaching has an audio recorded event of this happening to a whole church in 1997 at the same time! Lights, colors, and laser-color or LED color angel orbs flew around the church! Sid Roth’s It’s Supernatural had an episode on it.

      HERE’S THE EPISODE – December 20, 2010 (start at 19:00):

One reviewer on his site says: “I downloaded this on MP3. That was a smooth and instant transaction. I couldn’t wait to hear this seminar teaching. This was very exciting to listen. It was new information for me, on a subject that I have been led to search. The subject of angels and heavenly lights is one most people including pastors don’t understand and barely discuss. It is a subject that most often cannot be taught from personal reference and is therefore most often without God given revelation as JPJ imparts here. The teaching is very sound very biblical as JPJ leads us through a revelatory teaching on Heavenly Lights in the bible. JPJ is conveying his own experience of seeing the lights when suddenly the audience begins to see the lights whipping through the room. This teaching message sent chills through me listening to the excited audience. Oh how I wish I could have been there. JPJ was just as excited as his audience because this was the first time for him that a mass group of people’s eyes were opened to see what he was seeing as Elija prayed for Elisha’s eyes to be opened in the bible. I listened to it twice in a row. I loved it and highly recommend it.”

      • John Boruff says:

As an aside, John Paul Jackson went through ministry training under the leadership of John Wimber at the Anaheim Vineyard Christian Fellowship. In the book Empowered Evangelicals by Rich Nathan, which was published in 1995, on page 80, he attributes the origin of the phrase “naturally supernatural” to John Wimber. It originally came out of the idea that it is better for charismatic ministers to have a natural approach in their style and their presentation about supernatural subjects. Mainly because evangelicals have a difficulty accepting charismatic ministries that can be flamboyant or ostentatious when they talk about the supernatural: for example Kathryn Kuhlman and Benny Hinn. So John Wimber set the tone to take a more casual, intellectual, and common sense style when talking about supernatural things, but not in any way watering down the fact that we need to have supernatural experiences in our lives.

As I have continued to engage and go after understanding on the sparkles I began to realize another thing. I see them in all different colors now. From blue to red to yellow and more. I had a dream even before I saw the sparkles where I met two of the angels assigned to me. They said that they were living jewels from the temple. Anyway, to make a long story short. I was lead to study a little on the breastplate of judgment in the Old Testament and the twelve stones that would light up when the priest was seeking proper guidance in governing the people. I believe there is a strong connection between the 12 foundation stones in Revelation and the temple made with jewels and the breastplate made with the 12 stones of the tribes. (Though I have not been able to piece it all together yet.) I have definitely come to an understanding that there are living jewels (angels) and they each take on a different color and teach me truths about properly governing and walking in God’s kingdom. As you have noticed, and others, they seem to light up on thoughts and moments when God is highlighting truth to us just like the stones on the breastplate of judgment. (Which of course was merely a shadow of a greater truth). A greater truth, I believe, is the fact that now God gives to us angels that teach us how walk and properly govern and rule as kings and priests in God’s kingdom. Our own personal breastplate of judgment. After all, one of the root words to the Hebrew word prayer means to mediate, or judge.

      • Peggy says:

I appreciate you sharing a possible connection to the breastplate stones of the 12 tribes. I am starting to research on this line, too. Would mind updating on this post? I am seeing more and more and I want to understand what I am to do with it. Do you by chance see other things? Thank you!

      • Peggy says:

Was in Bible Study last Tuesday. Saw the door edge light up purple on and off. At the close of study, I saw the entire wall in front of me light up blue. With an amber yellow overlay. During study I saw blue sparkle and clear diamond sparkles and some color moving around. We dismissed and sat together for a few more minutes. I had a strong sense of two words, “foundation stones”. Finally I wrote the two words,”foundation stone” on a tablet and asked those present if this meant something to them because I was hearing it loud and clear. Never crossed my mind it was a word of knowledge. The following night at home I am reminded of it and look it up in a bible search. Revelation 21:19. Here it is, precious stones!

Can you give Robert my email and if he agrees, I would like to exchange notes with him.

        Thank you!

      • Robert says:

Hey Peggy my Email is I would love to converse back and forth. Always learning and always growing in the hidden Wisdom of Jesus.

      • Farouk says:

I’m so excited finding something like this. The first light I ever saw was a blue light on someone’s heart shortly after they prayed. I looked behind me to see if anyone was flashing a torch or some blue laser but there was no one. I then began experiencing brilliant white lights (almost looked like a tear in the atmosphere on a Sci-Fi movie type of white), some would float, some would just pop up out of nowhere. Some I would stare directly at, some I would see on my peripheral vision. People around me started seeing them as well. On one occasion I saw a long white light on someone’s head, I turned to the TV which was directly across from him and saw a reflection of the light on the TV which was off. I got really excited, and before I could say anything, he said he also saw it on the reflection of the TV. I then became a lukewarm Christian for a couple of years and the lights seized completely. I re-established my relationship with God and the light began appearing more frequently, now it is a daily occurrence. I tried to pick up trends, I noticed that I would see blue lights on people as they prophesied (physical blue…not a vision but physically). I then noticed that if I get some sort of revelation, from either something I thought, something I read, something I prayed, etc. I would see a white light. Sometime I would just see the light when I’m not really thinking about anything. In some people’s houses the lights would be everywhere and the entire atmosphere would just be really bright.

On the flip side, I’ve seen a “light” in some people’s houses which didn’t seem right. I’m terrible with colours so I’ll just try to describe it. It is dark, like a dark brown or a really dark orange. (P.S. Just saw a white light while typing this now at 11:00 on 6 Sep’16 South Africa time)…This won’t make sense to most people who read this, but I guess to only those who’ve seen it, the light looks like ”flesh” at times…an open wound that went bad but with no blood. Wish I could describe it better, it’s not a frequent sight though.

Extremely insightful indeed, when I moved over from Islam to Christianity I received multiple prophecies about a strong gift that I carry, and that is the gift of discernment. Amazing how this ties in with that. I’ve seen a white light even in a dream two weeks ago. To summarize the dream, I was looking into the future at an event that would occur and there was a date at the bottom of the screen in my dream of when it would occur. In that scene the white light was visible moving around even as the dream scenes changed.

I see the lights sometimes when my eyes are closed and I’m praying (blue and white)…sort of in my eyelids. I’ve seen it look hazy/misty. I’ve seen it focused and detailed. Deep dark blue, different shades of blue. I’ve seen brilliant white lights. I only once saw a blue/purple mix on someone’s hand as they moved it. I’ve not seen some of the ones you’ve just mentioned. I feel that as you begin to get revelation and begin “acting” (if required) on what you saw, you begin receiving more “talents,” i.e., more lights and this will lead us to effective edification of the church. There was a great man of God who’s finger would vibrate when he’s praying for healing for someone. If it was a normal sickness it would vibrate. However if it was a sickness caused by a demon, one of he’s other fingers would vibrate. That would give him an indication on what to pray. Okay, today I’ve seen lights probably over ten times. I want to ask if anyone ever experiences a light touch in the centre of their head, almost like a finger or something touching just the centre. I ask because lights and that feeling started happening around the same time?

I am so edified right now. I feel like a child in a candy store. 🙂

      • John Boruff says:

Farouk: God is really trying to encourage you to follow Jesus and stay committed to Him. All of these angelic lights you’re seeing are meant to strengthen your faith; it is not likely any specific messages are being communicated to you at this point. However, if you find them lighting up when you think certain things about God, then they are “illuminating” you, or acting like a “highlighter” for that thought, so you will take that thought as a revelation. I’m excited for you and everyone who has commented on this article! I wish we could all get together and start a Pentecostal church where these types of gifts were encouraged, taught, and imparted–because they are very edifying. Whether or not these are “the gift of discerning of spirits” (1 Cor. 12:10), I don’t know. But I think Wayne Grudem (The Gift of Prophecy) and Jack Deere (Surprised by the Voice of God) would both agree with lumping all of these visions and supernatural experiences into the category of “the gift of prophecy.”

      • Farouk says:

Thanks John, my apologies for replying so late. Work can get the better of me at times. I’ve been doing some intense research on this topic especially in line with the 12 stones. It is an extremely difficult topic to study. Just some feedback on what I’ve noticed so far. Indeed when someone tells the truth or even thinks something true, I see the white light. A week ago an unsaved colleague was complaining, he spoke to me complaining and as he swore, and a round blackish “dot” appeared in the centre of his head…it was literal, it stayed there for about 2 seconds and while I looked at it, it disappeared. That was literally at the exact moment when he cursed. Another incident happened about a month ago, I was in a deep argument with someone about the Bible (I know that was wrong, haha 😦 ); when I turned and saw a brilliant white light, detailed and physical appear on an eye lash of one of the people I was talking to…seeing that light calmed me down. Lastly I told my wife about this and she said that she also wants to see what I see. I put my hands on her eyes and asked God. The next day she saw and has been seeing ever since, cool thing was when we speak and a revelation or truth is mentioned, at times we see the light at the EXACT same time literally…however we did not see it at the same place, just at the same time. I would like for everyone to not dismiss this gifting but pursue it, I feel that there is so much more to this that we could even imagine as we know that God is Light.

      • John Boruff says:

        Hi Farouk,

You sound like me. I have experienced all the things you have here: especially the Bible argument thing. Except for one thing: the black dot. My wife has seen only two black dots in her whole life. She was impressed one day reading Dake’s Annotated Reference Bible, the “Prophecy” circle dot in those notes – began to appear angelically as a black dot, and to her, it means “authority.” Not even anything evil. So lesson learned: colors mean different things to different saints; it all depends on the context you are in, and the thoughts that pop into your head as a result of the visions.

      • Tonya says:

Yes. Just this morning the center of my forehead was touched, or active. It feels nice. It came as a result of prayer.

Lights help us “see” something for us, or to give direction for ministry. At least that’s how I understand them. The presence of evil can also be detected. Sometimes they come at a thought of revelation… or when something we say or think is powerful spiritually. Like a confirmation.

I believe this is also the presence of angels as they “minister” to us.

Hope this is a blessing to someone.

    • Melanie says:

I am a follower of Yeshua and have recently had some intense prayer sessions which have eased off into a more relaxed prayer mode. It almost felt like I was stepping back and waiting for God. During this time I woke up in the early hours, my bedroom in darkness except for just enough light to make out the light part of pictures on my wall. One picture, a huge painting of Yeshua entitled ‘I Am the Good Shepherd’ looks like a white cross in the dark (the light background and the figure of Yeshua make a cross shape which I find comforting to look at. When I awoke, right next to the painting was an oval shaped electric blue light. I looked at it for a moment and interestingly enough felt relaxed and almost casually acknowledged it without much thought and went back to sleep. Interesting that the blue light was next to the painting of Yeshua which seems to have significance and where I could easily see it without having to move. I feel I was being shown this, I awoke for no reason and there it was. I’m now wondering what the message, if any was. My prayer before I went to bed was for protection and healing. Perhaps it was a reassurance. What do you think?

      • John Boruff says:

Hi Melanie – I would highly recommend you go on and buy Ira Milligan’s Understanding the Dreams You Dream – its not a perfect book, but it will sure help you make a whole lot more sense out of visions like this one. On page 86 he says: “BLUE – Spiritual: Spiritual gift; divine revelation; heavenly visitation; depressed (as in “singing the blues”); a male infant. Medium or Dark Blue = God’s Spirit or Word; blessing; healing; good will. Very Light Blue = Spirit of man; evil spirit; corrupt (Num. 4:7-9; Ezek. 23:6; Prov. 20:30; Luke 2:13-14).

I’d say, with the given context, the vision of blue light next to the picture of Jesus, preceded by prayer before sleep:–this was either an angelic or Holy Spirit manifestation that was simply just confirming to you that Jesus is God, or who He says He is. 🙂

      • Noah says:

Hi Melanie, I am surprise and encouraged to see someone on here use Yeshua, his Hebrew name. I have been seeing the Angel lights too, and have been immensely curious as to what they mean. Initially I was very cautious at the very thought, because the supernatural realm is so mysterious we can easily be deceived. I can see these pin-head white lights buzzing around in the sky, whenever I look, and am realizing that it seems to be a sort of spiritual energy I am perceiving. I have been able to see these lights for years, but ignored them for years because it was a bit unsettling. As I begin to dig into looking at them and praying over what they are, I am noticing I see sparks of light around me throughout the day, not just in the sky. It seems to me that the more we tune into this spiritual sight, the more we are able to perceive.

      • M says:

        H seem i Noah,
Thanks for your reply – and your comment re Yeshua! Shalom to you!!
The white sparks of light definitely seem to be some kind of energy you are seeing and I agree, the more we become of aware of the existence of these kinds of energy fields, supernatural realms and the like, the more likely we are to see them. Yeshua said we have to ‘believe’ before we see – many people think its the other way around which is a self fulfilling prophesy, like, according to their faith, or lack of faith. I believe when we believe, we tune in.
John 11:40 “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?”

I sometimes see little white/gold sparks when I pray and meditate on Yeshua, I tend to pray in the dark so that I am not distracted, like sensory deprivation if you will, and occasionally I see these sparks and it ‘feels’ like Angelic presence – The universe is a beautiful creation and there are so many wonderful mysteries yet to be revealed to us –

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me and I will answer you and show you great and might things”

    • Donna says:

I have seen an intense red laser light and it drew a circle on my wall. I also saw an entire eye with all the nerves attached: it was like a 3D hologram: each time they both started out as sparkles, and then turned into these.

I think it is saying “God is with you” every time I see the sparkles. They are red and they turn into something; like one turned into a laser beam, then made a circle on my wall. One of them turned into an eye.

I agree with you about possibly earning them through persecution. I’ve always been a caring person. I have literally been persecuted from birth. I see red sparkles and they form images. One formed a laser beam, shot through the air to my wall, and made a circle. One formed into a 3D holographic eye, it was a perfect detailed eye. I also had an eye speak to me. I’m not in church, but I did go a lot when I was younger.

      • John Boruff says:

2 Chronicles 16:9: “The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him.” I guess the question you need to ask yourself is, is your heart perfect towards Jesus, the God of the Bible? If so, then these red lights are angels of God; or may even be visible manifestations of the Holy Spirit, like in Acts 2:3.

  6. eager Light learner says:

I have seen blue sparkles. They’ve appeared when I am having an extremely adverse time. Once when I had poisoning and was seriously violently ill for two days; throwing up along with ‘the other’ which normally comes with that. The other time was when I was being bullied, (not physically) and I couldn’t get them to even see my POV. Afterward I felt completely helpless and defeated, then immediately I saw a few blue sparkles at the same time. I was confused and didn’t know what it meant.

    • Context is important when considering visions of angelic lights. I know of Hindu gurus, who after hours of meditation on their god, see a small blue ball of light, which they call a “bindu”: As his sadhana progressed, the frightful visions ceased. But he continued to have visions. He heard ‘very sweet and melodious divine music’ and ‘saw different kinds of light–red, white, gold, or black.’ ‘After the vision of black light came a blue light. It was very enchanting and about the size of a small pearl.’ Gradually, ‘a feeling that (he) was different from (his) body now began to develop in him.’ The vision of a blue pearl is the final experience of God, according to Muktananda. He said that ‘the final attainment comes only when the neel bindu (the blue, pearl-like spot of light) remains steady in the vision of sadhana.’ Once the neel bindu has become fixed and steady, ‘the realization dawns that God, guru, and he himself are one in Essence’ (see Vishal Mangalwadi’s The World of Gurus [Mumbai, India: GLS Publishing, 1987], p. 161).

I’m assuming that you are a Christian and not a Hindu meditating on a Hindu god. But my point in quoting this to you is to demonstrate the similarities and differences between this experience of a Hindu contemplative and your own, Charismatic Christian experience. The moral of the story is: CONTEXT IS EVERYTHING! The devil is a master counterfeiter of the angels of God: “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14).

  7. Andrea says:

I’m so grateful to have found this website!! I started seeing sparkles after a time of activation in 2012 and since then I have seen a variety of sparkles – from brilliant pin-point ones, to close up ones, to large orbs. I see them with both eyes opened and closed, though with my eyes opened, they’re a sharp vision, whereas with my eyes closed, it would be like a physical light shining through my eyelids. I see a variety of colours too (though mostly white/gold. I’ve also seen black sparkles… more like a pinpoint absence of light) and I have been trying to “tag” the sparkles to the context, but have had not much success figuring it all out. I’ve seen it appear with believers (right behind / beside their heads) as well as some non-believers. Once I felt lead to watch individuals, and as my vision moved from one person to the next, different numbers of sparkles appeared beside their heads. Sometimes a sparkle would appear apparently for no reason… I even began to think there was something wrong with my physical vision! I have tried asking the Holy Spirit about them, but I never get an answer too. Nevertheless, I’m just glad to know that others see it too, and all the experiences that everyone else here has had is very encouraging. Thanks for writing on this! Blessings!

    • Michael says:

I think I may have just started seeing these sparkles as well. It has occurred twice now, but I can’t really remember the first occurrence. The second one happened today when I was in class. What I saw in my vision was what looked like golden sparkles and there were at least 20 of them spread across the entire spectrum of my eyesight. They were small like a large star in the night. All the sparkles were all the same bright gold color. They lasted in my vision for probably a second, no more than two. I don’t follow a religion, but am a spiritual person and meditate from time to time. Been on raw fruit/vegetable diet lately as well. Funny thing I just started watching Long Island Medium for the first time a month or so ago. So if these are spirit guides then I may have briefly seen the other student’s guides then? Or it could just be my vision lol.

      • Hey, you need to give your life to Jesus. Those are demons appearing as “angels of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14) if they are not leading you to turn away from your sins, trust Christ on the cross that He died for your sins, and live by the Bible and become a Christian! Repent! Turn to Jesus now!

      • Robert says:

        Hey Michael,

I think it is awesome that you are interested in the Spiritual. I am too! I know you said that you are not religious and I understand your heart; but there is a reality to what John is saying…The spirit realm is real and so, being a real place, there are real beings that live there. Just like in our physical realm there is evil and good in the spirit there is too. There is a Real God who is life itself and loves to create. We were created as representations of God in the physical realm. We were made in God’s image and in His likeness. Unlike other creatures or beings we have the unique ability to access and interact in both the spirit realm and the physical realm. We have spirit and we have flesh. We were given the great pleasure to cultivate Heaven across the earth. We messed up though. Oops. We lost full access to the heavens and the path to life eternal was blocked. But God already knew this and He had an answer before we were ever put here. You see we as God’s representatives were given authority over the physical realm as long as we were in unity with God. When we turned the other way we gave our authority to a being that was known as the deceiver. This caused a couple of problems to say the least. We lost communion with the Spirit of God, we lost our authority over the earth, and we let corruption into the world causing death. God being perfect Judge understood that corruption deserves death. The only way to counteract this was to have sacrifices. The death of the creature represented the death of the person and thus made atonement for them. This allowed man to have some type of fellowship with God through the atonement of animals. It also taught man the significance of his decision. God said that the life was in the blood. The shedding of the blood in the animals made atonement for mankind. However the blood of bulls and goats would not suffice nor could it ever. Since man had given up his right, authority and union with God, then it would have to be a man who took it back. Thus the reason for Jesus! God took on the flesh of a man and in the likeness of man lived an uncorrupted life. Then after demonstrating the truth and the love of God, Jesus, God in the flesh, did what no animal could do. He, once and for all, sacrificed Himself for humanity. Now anyone who wants access to God must only turn from their way of living and corruption and accept the sacrifice that Jesus made as your own. Once you do that, which can simply be a thought, you’ll receive the Spirit of God (Jesus Christ). All you do after that is learn from His Spirit and live your life devoted to Him. I don’t care if you live in a field and beat on bongo drums your whole life. Your expression of love for God is your own. You do not have to subscribe to some religious organization but what is absolutely necessary is the sacrifice that Jesus made. That’s what it is all about!…You do not have to go to my church or their church, I do not care if you wear a tie or not. LoL. Just realize that Jesus has already made atonement for you! Take what has been already given for free and step into the bliss of Heaven. Now back up to where this all began. The other awesome thing is you get the Spirit of God which is also called the Spirit of Truth. Now this is where I currently have an advantage over you when it comes to the spiritual. You see when you force your way into the spirit realm without the Spirit of Truth you do not know what is what. Your just looking for something awesome to happen. But I have a judge, a meter if you will, the Holy Spirit tells me what is okay and what is not. He tells me what sparkle is good and what sparkle is not good. I have something to compare with. Plus I have many friends who have the exact same Spirit in them. We hang out and can help each other judge encounters. The Spirit of Christ in us will bear witness to what is from Him and what is not! Your just out there on your own. 😦 Not good dude, not good. Everything that happens is going to seem cool cause you are stepping into a new world. You are going to be like a baby. You won’t know that you shouldn’t eat that or touch this. You wont know what spirit being is good or not. They will lie right to your face! In fact they will do everything they can to keep you from simply excepting that Jesus is God and already atoned for you. Like I said you do not have to enlist in some religious organization but you do need the blood on your life and you need the Holy Ghost. It will take your spiritual walk to a whole new level, for real! Most importantly you will learn how to love God and to live a life of love for others like you never thought possible! Good luck to you dude and blessings. I hope you have an amazing life and I hope you find the extreme bliss that lies in the cross of Christ!

    Hello Robert,

“The email account that you tried to reach does not exist…”

  10. I don’t know where to begin. First of all, I began seeing sparkles of light after I was baptized in the Spirit. I began to receive revelations through the Holy Spirit that the sparkles of light I was seeing were indeed angels. The same exact way you described it is how I would see it. I’ve seen 3 colors. White, blue and red. Mainly white, then blue and a few times red… I know there is a meaning and I’m looking for scriptural answers. Can you give me scriptures in the Bible to confirm these?

    • John Boruff says:

The Bible is silent about many things: how long it takes to lose one’s salvation, contemplative prayer, modern-day inventions, organ donations, cloning, etc. I believe the Bible is silent about angel sparkles. Its not that I believe there is NO evidence for angel sparkles in the Bible, its just that there’s no entire chapter written on them. Angels are referred to as beings of light (and demons, 2 Cor. 11:14); perhaps the Star of Bethlehem was an angelic star (Matt. 2); and perhaps Acts 2–the tongues of fire–were angelic lights working in cooperation with the Holy Spirit.

  11. Zammy says:

I too have been seeing sparkles since I was 14-15 years old. I am now 25 and I am still seeing them. I remember once when I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth, and then when I looked up from the sink I saw flakes of gold, like snow – so beautiful – falling down above my head. I could look at it…I could focus my gaze on it, and it was so beautiful to behold. I have had several of these instances; and they have happened during a very difficult part of my life as I was growing up.

At most times, I see sparkles of light. I might be reading, or at work and these lights would just randomly start to appear, be it on my computer screen, or to the side of my chair, or I could be walking and they would appear in front of me. Just recently I was upset and I decided to go out for a walk, and right in front of my feet I saw two sparkles of bright blue. In another instance I was lying on the floor watching a Christian movie on my laptop, when all of a sudden, this bright shinning ball of light, about 1cm in diameter appeared behind my laptop screen and shot upwards to delineate a golden-white line about 70cm in length!

I see these sparkles/lights when I am in-tune with God, or when I am discouraged. I see them at least 10 times a day. It’s become so common now that I don’t even bother to count them…it’s just so natural for me to see them.
I have always tried to figure out what it means. I’m still unsure, but I know that it is God telling me that He is still with me.

    • John Boruff says:

“I’m still unsure, but I know that it is God telling me that He is still with me.”

This pretty much summarizes my view as well. Although sometimes, they do appear at times, when specific theological subjects are being thought, read, or talked about. And its like God or an angel is “confirming the Word with signs following” (Mark 16:20).

    • Robert says:

I always like reading websites on the seer gift. I too see the lights. I used to call them Angel Sparkles. I do believe they have to do with angels. They appear big small, bright or vague. I sought for a long time on what they meant. Just like Michael said I see them on pages and also sometimes they just appear. Hopefully what I have come to believe about them will help. I see many different colors. I used to not know what each meant. There are so many meanings to colors in the Christian world. I am a follower of Jesus 100% by the way. I had to just learn by seeking God what each one meant. I am still learning. Back to how sometimes they appear on a page highlighting a Scripture, you are right. They do that to me too. The reason they also appear, what seems to be randomly, is because they also appear according to thoughts, emotions, and just about anything going on that the Lord wants to point out to you according to the color. For example: Dark Blue to me indicates Knowledge or Truth. If it appears on a Scripture–God is pointing it out to me for revelation. If it appears in the middle of the air, it is usually attached to a corresponding thought and is confirming it as truth, like a word of knowledge it is telling me some kind of detail. So for example I think, “My friend so and so is having a bad day” and a blue light appears I know that the thought I just had was true, and I pray for them, or call them, or whatever. Light blue represents the Spirit of Might to me. So when it appears it is teaching me how to be supportive, how to be a powerful man of God, how to back my friends, how to be a good husband to my wife and support her, etc. It’s teaching me I believe how to put on the characteristics and virtue of the Holy Spirit when it comes to might. Dark Purple is the Fear of the Lord for me. It teaches me accountability and obedience. It appears when God is teaching me about walking in the Fear of the Lord. Light purple or Lavender teaches me gentleness. It appears when something going on around me, or in my thoughts, is embodying the nature of a gentleman, or gentleness and chivalry. I keep up with when they appear and write them down. I try to walk out what they teach me and walk in those truths.

I believe that they are some type of discernment. God created a breastplate of Judgement in the Old Testament; and the priest wore them before God, and according to tradition, the gems would light up when in the presence of God and help the priest make proper decisions concerning the Jewish nation. Look up the meaning of the Urim and Thummim in the Hebrew and you will find they mean lights and perfection. Pretty cool. God all throughout the Scriptures is trying to cover us with every manner of precious stones. The foundation of the temple is made out of gems. We are the temple of the Lord. I believe God is teaching me the virtue He wishes me to carry as the foundation to my life. Also, as just another way to hear His voice in general. I see red, black, grey, white, gold, crystal. I have seen them as big as a person and as small as a needle point. Strong, light, far, close. Open-eyed, inward, both, and I’m not sure, lol! Up, down, strong, soft. Sometimes its so intense I feel it goes deep inside me. Sometimes it’s so fast and light, I don’t actually know if I even saw it or not. All I know is that they always appear to highlight something that is going on around me, or in my thoughts or emotions that He seems to think is important in my walk and development as a child of God. Those who thirst for Righteousness shall be filled! Drink from all the fruit of his Divine Nature!

i am fron nigeria, i have been thinking about this thought i have a problem with eyes, am glad to know that people like me having such experience, glad to know that, i see White and shine of sparkles just like the one on this website, it very real, i think i am a special spiritual being having human experience, in the same time,in the afternoon, .

  13. GRACE says:

Thank you all for sharing. This is the only information I have found on these “angel sparkles”. Jesus is so amazing. I have noticed that I also see them concerning the word of God. The sparkles I have seen are normally white, but I have also seen ones that are so white they are blue. Here is a brief history of these sightings.

~ About a year ago when I was speaking to my friend in the bathroom I saw a group of white sparkles that came and disappeared. At that moment warmth and a supernatural joy filled me. All this occurred when I said, “We need to know God’s value for us”; well, this was the path the Lord took me down. Praise God.

~ Second was when I was watching Joseph Prince. I was writing down notes, when a so-white-it-was-blue sparkle appeared. I was writing “sowing to the spirit is Grace.” 12/09/15 not too long ago I received a revelation concerning grace.

~ Last week on 01/06/16 in Bible study, our group leader started speaking about rhema (Greek) for word. A white sparkle appeared by his head. Still have no idea what to expect.

~ Also Friday 01/08/16 a sparkle appeared while I was randomly flipping through the Bible; it was on Hebrews 10:10; not sure what this means, yet.

Note: I have seen these sparkles more in between these events, but didn’t record because I wasn’t sure about what was going on. I would love to speak to a seasoned Christian about this, or the pastor of this ministry. I just started researching about the colors.

I do have a question: is this a gift of prophecy or the gift of discerning spirits?

Thank you. I am so excited; our God is so good. Thank you Abba!!!!

    • John Boruff says:

Hi Grace, I don’t have a church (maybe I will someday). But so far as this blog is my “church,” then I suppose you could say that I am the “pastor of this ministry.” Rebekah (wife) and I have been seeing angel sparkles regularly since we got married in 2008. Our marriage was precipitated by a steady diet of dreams, visions, signs, coincidences, voices, and like revelations. I think about 40 or more were journaled. When we got married it was in a circumstance of persecution, poverty, and great difficulty. But we knew that God and His angels were with us. We would get ready for bed time–and for a whole month or more, we both saw white angel sparkles appear over us like a little fireworks display. They especially liked to appear in the dark, so there would be no mistaking their appearance. I have often seen them appear by preachers when they have said certain statements; and by Rebekah or myself, when we have made certain statements theologically about God; or even on the Bible as we read certain sentences and think certain thoughts. I remember when I read Steve Harper’s The Way to Heaven and Kenneth J. Collins’ Wesley on Salvation book, when I read certain things, an angel sparkle appeared on the book or the sentence I read. We have found that the main function of the angel sparkles in our lives is to confirm the Word of God, particularly specific rhema words from God, for particular guidance of our thought life. God is real. Blessings in Jesus! John Boruff

      UPDATE: 9/14/16:

“Second was when I was watching Joseph Prince. I was writing down notes, when a so-white-it-was-blue sparkle appeared. I was writing “sowing to the spirit is Grace.” 12/09/15 not too long ago I received a revelation concerning grace.”

Hi Grace, I’m going to have to judge that light as a demon, because it was highlighting Joseph Prince’s antinomian teaching on grace (see Michael Brown’s Hyper-Grace). Never fear though, you can still see true angels just the same: just be sure that they agree with traditional evangelical theology (lordship salvation, John Wesley, Jonathan Edwards, George Whitefield, etc, etc).

  14. GRACE says:

Do you see these angel sparkles every day? And how do you discern from God’s sparkles and the counterfeit sparkles from the enemy?

    • John Boruff says:

See my first comment for Dave W.

No, I don’t see them every day. I currently see them about once a month; and if I’m going through certain spiritual “seasons” where a lot is going on, I might see them a little bit more frequently. But one thing I know: they are a reward for going through suffering, perseverance, and faith. They don’t come easy. There is a price to pay for these angel sparkles.

To be short, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the best spiritual discernment. This is one of the reasons why I chose to write a whole book about this. See e-book section, it is available for free. This Gospel calls us to repent (turn away from sin) and trust in the blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins, and enables us to live in fear of God, with peace in our hearts, as we grow in obedience to the righteous and holy commands of the New Testament! Justification followed by sanctification: the new birth, which then leads to Galatians 5:22-23: “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” These are the kinds of thoughts that an angel sparkle from God would confirm.

  17. Davina says:

I too experience this, a lot! So much, that I finally decided to Google my experience and see if I was the only one. I didn’t know what it was, but began to suspect that it was (obviously) divine in nature. I too notice it is increased when actively ministering to someone, etc. Thanks for your post.

  18. Noah says:

I have been experiencing this for years. I first noticed that when I looked at the sky, it was completely full of these white, tiny dots, dancing and buzzing around like sparks or fireflies. They confused me because I knew they were spiritual, but I knew I couldn’t be seeing angels all the time, so I started ignoring them. Any time I look at the sky, I can see these lights, if I look for more than a few seconds, and when I deployed out on an aircraft carrier, my entire field of view around the ship was sparkles. I thought my eyes were going bad. Recently I have opened my mind to determine their spiritual significance, and I believe what I am seeing is spiritual energy. Yesterday I looked at a coworker the same way I look at the sky to see the sparkles, and I’m pretty sure I saw her aura. I’ve been reading as much as I can about this over the last couple days. Because I believe humans are imbued with God’s spiritual energy, I don’t think this concept is inherently occult, especially since I’ve been praying for training on how to use this gift from God, and it happened by accident!

So this leads me to believe that this may be what the gift of “Discernment of Spirits” Is all about. There is never really an explanation given about what it means, so I’m thinking, if He has given some of us the ability to perceive spiritual energy, it could be for the purpose of discernment between positive and evil energy. Maybe also to perceive when somebody needs help, based on the energy put off by their body?
I’m glad to know I’m not alone in this. I feel like I’m in a spiritual metamorphosis stage, and hearing all of your stories is very helpful.

My email is if anyone would like to contact me directly.

    • John Boruff says:

Hey Noah – I agree with you that you have the discerning of spirits (1 Cor. 12:10). I too have seen these flying white visions in the sky. I used to see them on one particular highway that I would drive on my to college from home. It was always this same highway. I always thought they were angels. However, I would recommend avoiding any material–either written, video, or audio–that uses words like “spiritual energy” and “aura” as these are New Age and occult terms, and often carry pagan ideas/spirits with them. I would encourage “charismatic” material to increase your understanding of these visions: Jim Goll’s The Seer, Ira Milligan’s Understanding the Dreams You Dream, anything from John Paul Jackson, etc.

  19. Melanie says:

  20. Amanda says:

About a year ago after my friend who is a seer came to visit me she told me she told me she just saw a sparkle, when she said that I thought I did to! It was as though I was instantly activated to start seeing! I also saw a red light that radiated off the back of her head down to her back as we was talking about the Lord. Ever since then I started to notice more of these sparkles. Every night for about a year now when I lay in bed and look around my room or my ceiling I look for these lights and I can see what appears to be hundreds of stars, some shoot across my room and there are clusters that spin together. I can also see them in the day in dim or dark lighting if I look for them, they come into plane sight and I can also see them when my eyes are closed also. I’v seen the sparkles at church and around other Christians or sometimes when I’m alone in a room. I just had an eye exam last Friday and I had mentioned it to my eye doctor, she said their is no medical reason for it because my retina is healthy. I felt bad for asking because I’ve been seeking to “See” but I wanted to make sure it what I’m seeing wasn’t health related.

  21. Regina M says:

I have just finished my partial fast. Later in the day every time I would look at my coworker I will see white dots covering her face will not turn to look at someone else I did not see it on them but when I turned to look back at her I will see them on her face never experienced this before trying to get an explanation of what it is and why?

    • John Boruff says:

The answer is found in the context. Ask yourself: 1. What do you know about this person’s relationship with Jesus? 2. What sort of thoughts were you having about this person before, during (especially), and after you saw the lights on her face? 3. Draw the simplest conclusion possible. It is likely just a simple sign to you that Jesus is working in her life; and you should say something to her about whether God has been working in her life? Don’t mention the lights though; she probably won’t understand.

  22. Jorge ceballos says:

The white light means yes red or orange means no this is a gift from God to us so I can have a communication with him I’ve asked alot of things or been in situations where this lights have gave me the answer it builds ur faith ur chosen

  23. Farouk says:

I agree, I’ve seen the blue light next to a prophet’s head while he was prophesying.

  24. Farouk says:

Hesitated in posting this, even reading it out to myself sounds a bit crazy but I can assure you I am 100% sane :).

I just would like to share a most recent experience. I’ve been having this reparative dream where I’m commanding demons in a room to reveal themselves, they would and I would then cast them out. Now I sometimes see these black “smudges”, almost like the lights but black in colour. I saw one about 2 weeks ago and decided to “reinact” my dreams by commanding it to reveal itself before praying. As I commanded it to reveal itself this round “blackish/dark brownish” colour appeared mid-air, it was a circular shape. It lasted for about 2 seconds and vanished slowly. I saw a similar thing while fasting, on a friends head, it opened up on the centre of he’s head as he swore… It was so literal/physical that I find it hard that most people here would believe me.

Now here is the interesting part, day before yesterday while asleep my wife began praying for me, for God to open up my spiritual senses even more etc etc. this must’ve been 2/3 in the am. I then woke up at around 6 am and saw this humongous spider larger than the size of my hand on the ceiling. I starred at it and became freaked out. I was looking for something to kill it with as it was huge. I didn’t want to take my eyes off it in case it decides to hide. I must’ve looked at it for 15 seconds before it just slowly vanished. I won’t go into the detail on what this spider looked like, I will just say that it’s legs didn’t do what normal spiders legs could do. This was not a vision, it was 3 dimensional and had a solid form.

I guess my overall point is that these lights I think are the beginning to something much larger. I don’t see lights as frequently as I used to however I see them more intensely than ever before.

    • Grace says:

I have also seen the dark orbs appear and vanish. Instinctively I started casting them out. Is this the gift of miracles or discerning spirits?

      • Grace says:

Also I have one more question. When on the phone with my friend she was talking about the the book of Judges. When she had said “the book of Judges” a blue sparkle appeared. What do you believe this means. Looking for some Godly counsel. ..

      • John Boruff says:

Context. It always depends on the context of the situation and what sort of thoughts are going on at the time you see the dark orb. If its anything like the situations in which Farouk was talking about, then yes it is demonic. A gift of discerning of spirits (1 Cor. 12:10), so you can identify the presence of a demon–the spirit of fear (2 Tim. 1:7) most likely in Farouk’s case–and cast it out in Jesus’ name. God lets us see demons in order to cast them out. A lot of people don’t realize this, which is why they try to cast demons out of people and places, but they are just guessing that demons are there, rather than knowing for absolutely sure. Visions provide that certainty, confidence, and faith for casting out demons. Its kind of like having a scope attached to a rifle: you have a demon in the crosshairs and you shoot at it with prayer in Jesus’ name. It sure beats shooting in the dark without knowing where your enemy is.

About the book of Judges. At the very least, God was letting you know that book is inspired by God, so you know that light was an angel because it was confirming the inspiration of the Bible (2 Tim. 3:16). But the angel was blue – which is the color of revelation – so it was probably highlighting some specific thought that your friend brought up on the phone when “the book of Judges” was said.

    • John Boruff says:

I’m totally with you Farouk. Its the gift of discerning of spirits. There’s no other way to cast out a demon other than either seeing it, hearing it, or feeling it. I totally believe you.

      • Grace says:

So what does it mean when all that other stuff isn’t going on with the dark orbs?

      • John Boruff says:

I would point to the context again. There’s always something going on during the time you see the vision. I would personally lean on the side of calling it a demon since it is a dark color, which in the Bible is usually associated with evil. John 1:5: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

  25. Grace says:

Thank you! I really appreciate all the help.

  26. Cecelia says:

Glad I found I’ve been seeing tiny dots or sparkles that flash on and off in my bedroom in one particular corner every night for about 4 months now. I’ve also been seeing the sparkles that move about in the sky during day and everywhere I look in my bedroom at night for about 3 months now. About 2 months ago something white (not a flash of light though) suddenly flew through my living room ceiling and landed on the floor next to me as I sat in a chair. Of course when I looked down and tried to grab it, it wasn’t “physically” there. I think it may have been an angel. It looked liked it was a tangible material like a piece of garment.

About a month ago I experienced my cell phone being knocked off or literally lifted and dropped several feet from where I would place it. This freaked me out, so I called my parish priest came who came and “blessed” my home. He said he didn’t think the spirit was demonic. He suggested if it happened again, that I ask what it’s trying to communicate to me. Although I can sense this is some kind of intelligence, I don’t believe in communicating with spirits so that won’t be happening.

I must admit I’ve been going through one of the most difficult periods in my life the last 18 months, and depressed, so maybe that has something to do with these experiences. I have no one to talk in-depth about this without sounding crazy. What I’ve shared here is just a few of these “supernatural” events lately. Any books or materials’ suggestions to help me understand what’s happening would be appreciated. Thank you.

    • John Boruff says:

As for angels appearing as a garment – particularly a white robe – my wife sees open visions of these often.

As for the cell phone moving by itself, that sounds like “ghost” or poltergeist activity (demonic). You should command the spirit of witchcraft and spiritualism to leave your house in Jesus name! With emotion pray it. Turn on worship music. Try this out – modify it if you have to –

As for your other lights, the comments on this article – there are a lot of them – can help you have clarity about these matters. God bless.

    • Nicole Lee says:

This is most likely your spirit guide or family spirit if this has been a rough patch. Moving objects is them giving you a sign that they are trying to reach out to you. It would be odd for your spirit guide to knock your phone, so you may have multiple spirits there. Cleanse your home with sage and say a prayer in every part of your home. If it was your spirit guide, then they will stay as long as you do not cast them away. Also, white lights are usually spirit guides; my spirit guide comes with white flashes. It’s odd, last night I had silver shiny flashing lights; very small but somehow clustered; it guided me upstairs, so I could give myself a reading. It was in a way good news and what I needed; they come in your dark moments. Remember that I am not saying that silver is angelic. I don’t know who it was, but today I feel I have another spirit with me; it’s no longer just victor eagle, it is now another.

      • John Boruff says:

There are a number of things I would like to say in response to this comment above by Nicole.

        1. I am choosing to keep her comment on here, because it offers us who are evangelicals and charismatics a fresh perspective on how New Agers view demonic lights.

        2. Nicole is definitely somehow involved in the New Age or the occult and is mixing her understandings of spirit manifestations with Christianity. My guess is that she considers herself “spiritual but not religious,” and does not affiliate with a church tradition; or, that she attends a mainline liberal denomination and sees nothing wrong with psychics and the New Age. But its clear that Nicole is not an evangelical Christian. however is an evangelical charismatic website and totally rejects the ideas of the New Age Movement. There are multiple New Age ideas that she expresses in her comment: spirit guides, cleansing your home with sage, giving herself a “reading,” and victor eagle (possibly a totem pole animal spirit).

        3. I would ask Nicole to readjust her belief system and come over to the evangelical charismatic side. I would say start out with reading the Bible from beginning to end, study P. C. Nelson’s Bible Doctrines, and Douglas Groothuis’ Confronting the New Age.

        4. Demons are the same type of beings that angels are. The only difference is that demons are on the devil’s side and angels are on Jesus’ side. But ontologically, they are spirits, or beings of light. What’s important in understanding and interpreting these experiences, are the thoughts that they are communicating. If the spirit communicates a thought that agrees with the Bible and evangelical theology, then its from God; if the spirit contradicts the Bible, then its a demon and you should say, “Spirit of divination: I cast you out of this house in JESUS’ name!”

        5. Lastly, I would ask Nicole to pray to the Father in the name of Jesus and ask for forgiveness for believing in occult ideas and doing occult things. This is the sin of witchcraft and God considers it rebellion.

      • Cecelia says:

Thank you for offering advice and sharing your experience Nicole. I have heard of spirit guides and they seem similar (not necessarily saying they are) to what we Christians refer to as guardian angels. However, my Christian beliefs discourage me from New Age practices such as saging and readings. Also similarly, the Catholic priest’s blessing of my home is what I would consider “cleansing and prayers”. There seems to be some parallels in our beliefs, so please contemplate John’s response to your comment. Have a wonderful 2017.

  27. Robyn says:

Unsure if you guys still answer questions here, but I’d very much like to tell my experience and get some feedback perhaps. About two years ago I was driving during the day. I looked out to my left, and in the sky, out of nowhere, it was like red sparkles or glitter bursting out of nowhere and then disappearing within a flash. I first thought it was a meteorite, but after researching them, realized it didn’t have the tail that meteorites do while falling into our atmosphere. I’ve asked and searched for the answer, and I’ve been told everything from it being angel lights to angel trails.

I will say, I am not a believer of organized religion but I am VERY spiritual. I am very much attuned with nature and feel God around me most there. I’ll admit I struggle believing in the Bible, as I don’t trust anything “man/woman” tells me. I want to see it, feel it, witness it for myself. Actually, since I gave up religion, I have felt closer to God than I ever have before. That gets a lot of backlash from Christians, but I can’t help the way my spirit feels. My mother and I have always had some strange clairvoyance, and let me say, I am in no way saying I’m a psychic or something lol… We just have “feelings”.. or “premonitions” that have sometimes come to fruition. We just feel “different” but can’t put our finger on it. I’ve tried every scientific research I can think of what I possibly saw, but nothing is adding up. Some people speak of sparkles, or orbs or shining lights, but it still doesn’t sound like what I saw. It literally looked like a firework in the sky (but I assure you, it wasn’t…this out over water). It glimmered very much like Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers in The Wizard of Oz when she first looks down at them on her feet, but a basketball sized explosion of glitter. It was beautiful, whatever it was. 🙂 Anyway, I would like your take on this, as I am always deepening my knowledge on things that help me grow spiritually. Thank you.

    • John Boruff says:

      Hi Robyn,

First, the best way to grow spiritually is studying the Bible for yourself. The people who wrote the Bible were people just like you. What you saw was an open vision. The Bible has these things in it. Mainly with people like Elijah, Elisha, the Old Testament prophets, and the apostles in the book of Acts. Moses had visions too in the book of Exodus. There is nothing unspiritual about the Bible at all–its totally supernatural. Check out Jack Deere’s Surprised by the Voice of God which studies the supernatural aspects of God in the Bible and in people’s personal experiences today. Also, he address a lot of the religious deadness that you see in organized churches. I’m personally more of a “house church” person myself, and I also gravitate away from most organized religion, but sometimes I find the Holy Spirit guiding me to certain churches.

That being said, with all visions of spirits: from the Biblical or evangelical point of view: you have two main options: 1. God. 2. The devil. That’s basically it. Angels come under God’s category of visions. And demons under the devil’s. The question you must ask yourself is: was the vision you saw making you think well of Christ and the Gospel and the Bible? or not? If not, then it was just a common demon you saw.

  28. Robyn says:

Thank you. I feel it was definitely an angel, as it was so beautiful and it happened right before the cusp of a life changing time for me. I’ve always felt God guiding me, I’ve always been the different one in my family, unhappy with the status quo, searching for my “purpose” and not settling for anything or anyone until I found it. I use to get angry at God, crying and begging, “Please just show me!” And then it finally happened at 33, and I realized it had been so simple all along. My purpose on Earth was to care.. to be giving.. to love. I began working in the mental health field and found giving to others, being selfless, THAT was what made me feel whole. It wasn’t all the partying, the devil at the bottom of a whiskey bottle…but, God got me through those times, so that it would be testimony to others. It all made sense… I was begging him for the answer, when I wasn’t ready for it… I wasn’t ready to help others yet.

I appreciate your reply and will think about giving the Bible another go. I’m so h-bent on trying to find my own way, that I do forget to let God guide me there at times. As I said, I’m so jaded with humans, that it’s hard for me to believe anything. I think of the guy who invented Mormonism. He said he was a disciple too, you know? 🙂

  29. Coral says:

I saw blue lights in someone’s eyes. I’m unsure whether this was a reflection of them or whether it was something in him. He is a devout Catholic and and RE teacher and mentor/tutor to me, and since then I have had messages from Archangel Michael and dreams about him with the Angel coming to me. I have no idea what all this means, but have found my faith in God again as a result. Any suggestions on what all this means are gratefully received.

    • John Boruff says:

The blue means revelation. The Archangel Michael vision represents angelic protection from the devil (as in the Rite of Exorcism): provided these revelations don’t lead you into Catholicism, and you maintain the true Gospel in the book of Romans, it simply can be taken to mean that God will protect you and give you spiritual eyes, if you will only trust Him.

      • Coral says:

Thank you. I’m not sure I understand why its important that the revelations don’t lead me into Catholicism? I doubt very much that I would go that way anyway being I am divorced etc. but I would be interested to know? Also, what has my tutor got to do with it all, and is it him I am being protected from or is he an earth angel that will help protect me?

      • John Boruff says:

The views of salvation in Catholicism are definitely anti-Biblical and contradict the book of Romans. But they are strong in the area of teaching on holiness or sanctification sometimes. There are some good teachings in the lives of Catholic saints like St. Patrick, St. Columba, and St. Teresa of Avila. But you just need to search the Scriptures to see whether these things are so (Acts 17:11). Try reading Martin Luther’s Commentary on Romans and things will become clear. The thing with spirit lights is that you have to judge them by the Bible and judge them by the thoughts that are stirred up by the context in which they appear (for example, when your teacher said something in class, an angel was probably confirming to you something the man said at that moment was from God). It does not mean, however, that the angel wants you to be a Catholic simply because your teacher is a Catholic.

I have been seeing angel sparkles for about 5 months now. They started about once a week and now I have been seeing them more than 10 times a day. I see blue a lot, pink, purple, white, turquoise, and red. I have also seen black orbs. I have seen demonic spirits in the form of spiders, scorpions, wolves, and shadowy people. I have also seen angels in visions, dreams, and with my physical eyes. I have heard both angels and demons talk to me or about me as well. I am a believer and lover of Jesus; a non-denominational Christian. Some things I see I understand and others I do not. For instance, I have seen angel sparkles appear on non-believers. One was a Muslim woman and the other a Hindu man. When I saw them on the man it flashed on his eye. I am pretty confused by this because I am wondering what the Lord is communicating to me. Does anyone know about seeing sparkles on non-believers?

Hi Brittony, it depends on the context. When the angel sparkle appears on a non-Christian, you have to ask yourself, what was I thinking or talking about when I saw it? Then you can tell if it was an angel or demon. If an angel, it agrees with the Bible and the Gospel; but not if it is a demon sparkle.

  31. Farouk says:

    Hi All,

Just a few of my learnings based on personal experience, over the past few months which, I hope will edify. Scripture says, “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself” (1 Cor. 14:4). I’ve been seeing this to be absolutely true. I’m sure that what I’m about to share applies to other gifts of the Spirit as well.

    1. I’ve noticed a direct correlation between seeing these heavenly lights and praying in an unknown tongue.
    • I became a bit slack in my prayer life, especially praying in an unknown tongue…the heavenly lights slowed down to a halt (at least my eyes seeing them).
    • As I began to pray in an unknown tongue more, I started seeing “them” again and the frequency increased.

    2. On about 4 occasions with different people, as soon as the person swore/cursed…sometimes split seconds before they say the word, I would see that blackish/brownish “light” appear either on their forehead or above their head. Can someone please help me to understand what I should do, is there any action required other than praying.

    3. Whenever I see the heavenly light and pray or go to pray where I saw the light, the power of God is absolutely intense at that place.

Hi John, I listened to John Paul Jackson’s teachings on the subject. He mentioned that whenever he saw the heavenly lights, he noticed that there was power there at that moment. Thank you for directing me to him. 🙂

Hi Farouk, Psalm 1:1 says, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,” 1 Corinthians 15:33 says, “Bad company corrupts good morals,” and finally Colossians 3:8 says, “But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.” Sounds like you should try to avoid the company of these cussers as much as possible. Also, next time you see that black spirit, just say this in your mind, “I CAST OUT THE SPIRIT OF PROFANITY, IN JESUS NAME!” Just say that firmly over and over in your mind, with your heart, and your emotions…watch and see if anything happens to the guy.

    • Grace says:

I have seen the black/brown dots as well. I addressed this with the Lord during my prayer time. I believe the Lord was telling me that they were demonic: demons. Pray and ask the Father: I am only human I can be wrong. John 2:27 tells us the Holy Spirit will teach us about all things: that is truth and not a lie, and that we have no need for anyone to teach us. In Ephesians 6 we are taught that we have authority. Cast them out or bind, rebuke, intercession prayer whatever the Spirit leads you to do. I have prayed about these lights and asked the Lord to keep me from stumbling. I don’t want anything that is not from Christ. I found that a lot of people who have seen lights or orbs start worshiping angels or spiritual entities. We know that the enemy can disguise himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). Test the spirits, tread cautiously, and remember God will never go against His Word. Filter everything through the Word. The Holy Spirit will give you all spiritual insight and wisdom. John 10 tells us that His sheep will hear His voice; and also Psalm 23 says that we shall not lack and His rod and staff will comfort us. Pray. God Bless.

I agree with Grace. We have to test the thoughts, messages, and suggestions of these lights. That’s ultimately where we draw the line between a demon and an angel. Stick with the Bible and Assemblies of God and evangelical type theology and that will keep you straight. On the other hand, don’t let yourself get too scared about having dreams and visions. Unbelief could set in; and you might end up not having any. They can be wonderful gifts of God, if you remain faithful to the Gospel of Christ. Although New Agers and Gnostics have weird views of angels and end up worshiping them–“Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind” (Col. 2:18)–it does not mean that Pentecostals and charismatics who see visions of angels are therefore worshiping angels. There’s quite a difference between seeing angels and worshiping angels. When people worship angels, they pray to them (like Catholics and St. Michael), and even sing to them, and put their faith in them instead of Jesus.

  32. Farouk says:

Please could I get some direction on this. I have been praying about this as it has been becoming an increasing occurrence. I’ve been spending quite a bit of time in often fasting and prayer while attempting to live a righteous life. I don’t watch TV or read the news but only soak myself in the Word of God, I do this because I know our time is short here on earth, and I’ll play PlayStation in Heaven…haha. For now I have to be efficient and effective in delivering the Word of God.

I had to set the background in getting to my point…the frequency of seeing lights has slowed down dramatically however the intensity of the lights have increased substantially. The colours I now see have increased from white, blue and blackish-brown to include grey and gold. This is my biggest issue so far:

I can sometimes pray for a person, or could just be chatting with them, and I’ll see this light occur either on their head or on their chest where their heart is. It’ll linger for a good amount of seconds, just enough time to stare at it and watch it move…this is not a light I see in my peripheral vision. My challenge is this, at times I can’t identify the colour although I was staring at it. So I can’t tell if it was a good or a bad thing, I just end up praying for deliverance and thanking God for blessings at the same time, haha. This is especially prevalent around the gold, grey and blackish colours. Sometimes it seems that the gold has a greyish element to it, and it confuses the heck out of me, as I don’t get even a spiritual “feeling” to help me out on what I should pray. The best example of what this light looks like…which is the confusing one…is like a small eclipse, there’s a gold light but slight level of darkness in that gold light.

Hi John, perhaps you can help me with a prayer point to ask God in understanding this please? I know this is a weird one but have you or Rebekah ever seen anything like this before?

I have been doing some research over the past day on the gift of discerning of spirits, and I know that there are different administrations of these gits. A few people actually see words written on people…some see actual demons etc. I and a few people I guess, only see these lights for now. I figure some of the teachings I was looking at sometimes intertwine discernment and the word of knowledge I suppose. My point is I need to make the most of this gift by first understanding it. It’s funny, after seeing this blog and getting lessons from John on understanding white, blue and blackish/brown…I’ve begun to see more colours. 🙂 Thank you.

    • John Boruff says:

Hey Farouk, good to hear from you again. I highly recommend that you get Ira Milligan’s Understanding the Dreams You Dream. It is relevant for visions and lights too, especially ch. 3: “Colors.” You can buy it on Amazon. Until then, use this link, and use the search feature on the left –

My initial thought has been my general direction on many of the comments on this “Angel Sparkles” article: look to the context for interpretation of the angel sparkle. Understanding the Biblical meanings of colors can help, but at the very least, you have the idea that a supernatural spirit of some type is confirming or “highlighting” a thought about something that just passed through your mind at the scene of the vision. You don’t have to pray every time you see one. It can just be the Lord guiding your thoughts about things. You said, “I can sometimes pray for a person, or could just be chatting with them, and I’ll see this light occur either on their head…” The issue is not that the light appeared when you were chatting with the person. The issue is what you were talking about with that person when the light appeared. That light, whether it was from an angel or a demon (in your case, I’m inclined to think it was an angel), was a supernatural confirmation from God that what you were talking about was from God (inspired), and God wanted you to pay special attention to that subject you were having a conversation about. In other words, the angel put those thoughts in your heads when you were talking about it.

  33. Devon McCabe says:

What caused me to look this up, was that on my way home from work this morning at about 1 a.m., I saw about 7 gold sparkles sort of like golden snow fall in front of my car; and it lasted for about a second, and then it was gone. It was very foreign to me, but I knew it was good. I am used to seeing demons, but not angels. I was speaking with a man that I work with named Kung Lee, who moved to America from Asia about a year ago: this was before I left work: we were speaking about the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how God speaks to me in dreams and 2 clear visions. He is an evangelist and preaches the Gospel in different states almost every weekend. He has been praying for me and this happened about 20 minutes after we had parted ways. Pretty neat. Thank you for sharing this. 🙂

To quickly add to that: when I got home, before I had even told my wife about it, she was telling me that she saw the shadows of 2 angels in our living room! Do you have any insight as to why these are appearing now and never have before?

    • John Boruff says:

Hi Devon – its awesome! The first time it happens its amazing, but you really want to pray that these continue in your life for the rest of your life, so that you get used to it. The purpose of these angelic light signals are to highlight things that you are thinking or talking about at the moment of their appearance. They are God’s way of confirming that what you are presently thinking or talking about is an inspired thought from God. Just as in Biblical interpretation, you never want to interpret a verse out of its context. The interpretation of dreams and visions is no different. Always look at the thoughts, the circumstances, and the context going on in your life at the time of the appearance of these lights, and you’ll get the gist of what God is confirming to you.

  35. Cecelia says:

This is a follow up to my original message (Dec. 2016). I still see the angel lights and now they seem to be everywhere I look in my bedroom. The room no longer needs to be completely dark when I see them. Only a few times have one or two appeared right next to me in bed. One night I was watching a popular Christian program with a very well-known host who asked the viewers to say a prayer to Jesus aloud. I said the prayer aloud and got up to walk to another room right afterwards and looked back into my bedroom and see what’s described as an orb. It was very beautiful (with brilliant colors inside) that was beyond any words I can describe. Some would say I was just calling out to Jesus most likely means it was a godly manifestation, and I do believe that myself. However, I still don’t know any Biblical Scripture that specifically address “orbs” as seen in the Solomon Stoddard picture (above in this post), and what I witnessed, which is the same.

Despite all written here so far, the messages seem to conflict each other. On one hand, these manifestations are godly, on the other, they’re demonic. One of the confusing things is the use of what people call New Age terms/phrases when describing Stoddard’s ministry such as, “Great Awakening” and orb as “angelic light, symbolizing the ‘revelation, illumination, or enlightenment’, that Stoddard had received from the Holy Spirit and the angels. Why use of these words when describing a Christian ministry? It can be confusing. John, can you please point out specific Scripture that speaks of these orbs, the smaller “angels of light” and the larger orbs? But not with Scripture so broad they’re open to several different interpretations. Thank you.

    • John Boruff says:

I’ve been where you are before. Feeling anxious about Biblical evidence for these phenomena. Unfortunately, the evidence for angelic lights is just about as scanty as finding evidence for Hell in the Old Testament. There is very, very little. But its not like you can’t find something. I would suggest doing word searches on and look at the commentaries on the right hand side. Search for words in the Bible like “star,” “light,” and “fire,” and you will soon find that words such as these will sometimes have connections with angels. In addition to that, we also have to realize that God allows for diversity and variety among the expressions of the angels. While you might not always find a word-for-word description of the exact visionary experiences that you have, there are plenty of similar precedents in Scripture that you can base your faith and confidence in, so that you are not left without a spiritual road map.

Also, try not to allow yourself to be tossed around by New Age phrases: while there are many phrases like this, what ultimately matters is that the vision or light, or whatever it is that you see, the question you need to be asking yourself in those times is this: “Is this confirming the Gospel and the Bible?” (Mark 16:20). If so, then you need not fear a demonic counterfeit, regardless if New Age phrases and experiences seem to be communicating something that sounds similar. Similarity is no argument for reality. A counterfeit dollar bill is no argument that it is a real dollar bill–so also when it comes to lights, angels, and visions. What is the doctrine, the thought, behind the vision? That’s the ultimate question with all visions. Try not to be thrown around by the conflicting ideas and comments on this article. I have welcomed dialogue with others all around the world, including New Agers having similar experiences, but I have tried to answer them from a Pentecostal perspective every time.

      • Cecelia says:

John thanks for providing the resource. I’d like to be clear; there is no anxiety on my part. Confusion (needing clarity) and anxiety are two different things. The challenge Christians face is making sense of the various (and sometimes conflicting) interpretations of Scripture about certain issues and experiences, presented by Christian leaders. I’ve done the word/Scripture searches and have found no direct Scripture(s) that explicitly references these “angel sparkles” or orbs. There is no direct Scripture mentioned in this posting either, just various Scripture interpretations that try to come close as possible. However, two Scriptures, Acts 12:7 and 2 Cor. 11:4 contains a relationship between angels and lights, but they don’t provide clarity for the experiences many Christians are having with these angel sparkles (small orbs) and the larger orb as seen in the painting of Solomon Stoddard in this posting (under UPDATE: 9/6/16).

The main issue I’m addressing is that typically, when there is no direct reference in the Bible to specific manifestations/experiences, we are taught by Christian leaders/mentors that they must be demonic. But we then confirm not all experiences that have no explicit Biblical reference are necessarily evil. An example of this is when you mention and I believe as well, “God allows for diversity and variety among the expressions of the angels,” of which there is no Bible Scripture that directly confirms that phrase either. I’m not being “thrown around” so much by the comments, but want to point out the original posting that uses terms “awakening, illumination, enlightenment” (under UPDATE: 9/6/16), which most Christian leaders usually warn is “New Age” and attached to evil.

But here these terms and the large light orb are associated with the Holy Spirit. If the use of these terms is supported by Pentecostal teachings it’s something new I’ve learned. Is it possible “New Age” designations for the use of “illumination” and “enlightenment” are because these words were not used in Bible versions prior to the 19th century (at least I haven’t found it)? And the designation is made when illumination is used in the New American Standard Bible, an association is made with divination and witchcraft (Daniel 5:11)? I didn’t find any Bible version that used the word ‘awakening,’ which may be another reason the term is associated with New Age. It seems many of our Christian leaders are afraid of new revelations beyond terms or concepts used prior to the 19th century so when these terms are used as Christians we hear, “If it’s not in the Bible, it’s not of God”. I respect your dedication to your Pentecostal perspective and willingness to hear from other perspectives. It’s been a revelation and comforting.

I’ve found assistance with understanding the truth about angel sparkles and orbs is also thoughtfully addressed by the following paraphrased excerpt from “The most basic level of enlightenment is the knowledge of sin, and without that knowledge, everything else is pointless. Psalm 18:28 says, “You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.” and in Psalm 119:130 it says, “The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.” This verse establishes the basic method of God’s illumination (turning on the light of understanding). When God’s Word enters the heart of a person, it gives light and understanding to them.”

      • John Boruff says:

When I think about the New Age, I’m more of a thought-for-thought person than a word-for-word person. Although I have gradually tried to strip away any New Age sounding terminology from my theological expressions, I haven’t been perfect at it. Words like “energy” and “power,” for example, I find to be interchangeable. You will find the word “power” in the Bible (Acts 1:8), but not “energy”; but when you are baptized in the Holy Spirit in the Pentecostal sense, you will know what I mean: the words are basically interchangeable, especially when you’re trying to explain the concept more thoroughly. Now, the word “psychic” is definitely something I have tried to steer clear of in the recent past, because this word implies that supernatural knowledge originates in the mind of man (the psyche), whereas the word “prophet” is Biblical (Acts 21:10); and assumes that supernatural knowledge is a “revelation” from the Holy Spirit (for more on this distinction see Clifford Wilson’s Occult Shock and Psychic Forces, ch. 18). The word “orb” comes from the ghost hunter, parapsychology, and New Age crowd: and I have tried to avoid the use of that word, because it is almost always associated with graveyards, ghost hunters, mediums, spiritualism, seances, and haunted houses. “Sparkle” is not a Bible word, I’ll admit that; its just simply a word I’ve chosen to use as a description of an experience.

If you prefer to use the Biblical phrase “heavenly lights” (James 1:17) as Adomnan did 16 times (The Life of St. Columba), then this would be the more traditional Christian expression. Above you will also find that Jacobus de Voragine (The Golden Legend) referred to them simply as “lights” or “stars.” But its taken me years to uncover that “heavenly lights” phrase in relation to these light visions; until that point, I was just describing the lights I saw, and with the understanding I had at the time, I felt comfortable calling them “angel sparkles,” but not that I meant to establish a weird cultic New Age doctrine or something. I will admit that visions of this kind do appear on the surface to be foreign to traditional Pentecostal churches like Assemblies of God. But I think its definitely possible that the experiences have been happening more in the Vineyard churches and non-denominational charismatic churches involved with prophetic ministry and influenced by the likes of IHOP, Mike Bickle, Jack Deere, and John Paul Jackson (in other words, the Kansas City prophets).

“awakening,” “illumination,” “enlightenment” – I have referred to the word “awakening” in light of the Great Awakening with Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield, which was an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Northampton, Massachusetts in the 1730s. Solomon Stoddard was Edwards’ grandfather: this was a genuine spiritual revival that occurred in the Puritan and conservative evangelical tradition. I am not using the word “awakening” to refer to a kundalini awakening or anything Hindu or Buddhist from the New Age movement. The same thing with the word “enlightenment”–to me these words are interchangeable with the Biblical word “revelation,” which means to suddenly be able to “see” something you could not before, because the Holy Spirit gave you a dream, vision, voice, thought, or experience that has now given you a fresh perspective on a subject. By using the words “awakening” and “enlightenment,” I am not meaning to communicate or advocate for any Far Eastern theologies about nirvana or anything like that. In my book How to Experience God I am very emphatic against things like that.

      • Cecelia says:

John, what a revelation! You are well read and a great communicator of your God-given wisdom. Your breakdown of the use of these “New Age” words could not have made things more clear for me. My engineering mind causes me to over-think at times (and too much into wordsmithing). For years, I have heard pastors make an association between non-Christian theology and words like awakening and enlightenment. So unless there is continued dialogue about the “whys” they teach this, confusion can set in, because more Christians are beginning to use them to explain experiences or belief systems. I see it now as not being about these words, but about the meaning or thought behind these words. What a simple, yet powerful “Aha!” moment. For years, I would grapple with explaining to others the difference between a psychic and a prophet. I see your explanation as a “bonus” and sign from God he is working through you to open the eyes of his children about matters that can be difficult to explain/address and just outright intimidate the most educated theologians. I want to continue my exploration into the angel sparkles phenomenon and the titles (The Life of St. Columba, The Golden Legend, Occult Shock and Psychic Forces, and your very own, How to Experience God) you mention gives additional resources and direction that is helpful. Thank you and may God continue to bless the work of your hands!

I had an experience of seeing on July 16. The Lord woke me with a bright light flash from my own eye. I saw two red lights with web wings, I witnessed evil angels. Then I saw a strong light by my bed. Jesus Christ’s name rebuked demons from a nightmare at night; then I prayed and thanked and praised and drove demons out in my dream. I asked God to rebuke all demons of hate, anger, fear, jealousy, and unforgiveness. And I had a beam flash from my own eyes when I prayed to rebuke demons in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen, God bless your article. I have clear understanding in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen, thanks.

I’ve experienced similar things twice, once it was white more white than anything I’d ever seen and about the size of a truck I could even make out some sort of white cloth swirling around behind the light furthest away from the center while we were discussing some Christian topic. It moved very fast about 3 times the speed limit outside (which is were it was) and it just completely vanished when it reached the street. Had a very similar experience months later except it was black, darker than the sky behind it (it was midnight and cloudy with no stars out) and I could make out what looked like similar cloth but dark grey or black and very tattered. I’ve also seen giant people guarding specific people in church that were standing a bit off to my side that would disappear when I turned towards them and reappear when I’d turn away. They wore all white, same material as the cloth in the lights and it was meshed together weird like it was a type of cloth people don’t use today or some different way of stiching it altogether. I just consider it a side effect of discernment of spirits but people think I’m crazy anyways especially when I mention feeling people and hearing (like cloth rustling and weight shifting from one foot to another) people around me that are clearly not there.

    • John Boruff says:

feeling people and hearing (like cloth rustling)…

I’ve experienced that. Back in my college days I had a prophetic dream and I woke up in the middle of the night and I could feel the presence of God moving in waves up and down my body. At the same time, I could feel the presence of angels over me. It was such a spirit of the fear of the Lord. And I heard with my physical ears the sound of cloth rubbing together vigorously, like a nylon windbreaker jacket rubbing together. I didn’t see the angels, but felt and heard them right over me about 1 foot above.

  38. farouk says:

Hi All, I would just like to share some of the experiences and revelations I’ve had over the past few months.

4 to 5 weeks ago while at my mom’s place I was talking about the wisdom and knowledge that God gives us and how it differs from earthly wisdom and knowledge. I was saying that without living a holy life we will not get that wisdom and understanding from God. As I said that a ball of light physically entered the room and my mom freaked out. It was almost about the size of a golf ball and looked like a mixture of diamond and pearl infused with a heavenly brilliant light. There was a small streak of light that followed behind it or an “essence” as it casually moved across the room.

Secondly, last night I figured out a light I’ve been seeing when I’ve been praying for people. If anyone knows my posts I always talk of a light that confuses me. It doesn’t seem bad nor good so I don’t really know what to pray when I see it. It’s a goldish/yellowish dark brown colour. I usually see it above people’s heads or move around their hearts when I’m praying for them. Like the other “lights,” this as well is seen in the physical. I prayed for someone who was in some serious pain and nothing happened. I prayed again and again changing to declarations, decrees, commands, petitions etc. and nothing happened. The person then said these words: “I’m not going to the hospital, God must heal me.” Shortly after she said those words I saw this light (goldish/brownish…) on her head. So I put my hand on her head and the pain left immediately. So last night I asked my wife what does a mustard seed look like and then Googled it. All the time I’ve being seeing a mustard seed when I’ve been talking and praying for people…haha. I used to rebuke it so often.

God has blessed so many people who are on this forum. How many people do you know have seen what we’ve seen, things so brilliant that when said no one really believes. Just some encouragement to everyone to push through and desire to see more as this is a gift from God.

    • John Boruff says:

That is amazing about your mom seeing the angelic light! I wish that had happened to my parents. I mean no disrespect, but many times I felt like they would stop listening to me once I started to talk about God. Maybe a light like that would wake them up. Who knows.

“Yellow” in Ira Milligan’s Understanding the Dreams You Dream, p. 89, means gift from God (or spiritual gift).

I thought it was all a dream but I knew it wasn’t especially when around 6am I got out of bed to go the bathroom and came across my mother on the landinding and described as being a little bit disoriented but fully awake. Whilst in the bathroom I saw two fairies one bright white and the other as being bright silver’ I lifted them both on the palm of my hand and put my hand towards the window and they floated away through the glass. • John Boruff says:

Hi Harjit – I believe that you are telling the truth – that this was a real vision experience that happened. However, as a Bible-believing Pentecostal, I am forced to reject the whole thing as a demonic counterfeit. Not every demonic experience is riddled with fear, monsters, evil, and malevolence. In fact, a good number of them appear to be harmless and benign, like this one. Demons can “masquerade themselves as angels of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14) for the sole purpose of leading you away from the God of the Bible and turning your thoughts towards other gods. Your acceptance of Sikhism alongside other world religions and Christianity is what this fairy experience partially meant to you. In the Bible, there are no fairies – only angels and demons. The New Age movement, whether or not you identify with it, is a demonic movement going on all across the world that pulls people into universalism and religious pluralism, and tricks them into thinking that many of the religions are all speaking of the same God. But the Bible carries no such tone. “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3). That’s the first of the Ten Commandments. God spoke this to Moses and the Israelites on Mount Sinai in a loud, thunderous audible voice. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). This leaves out every religion except for Christianity which is grounded in the Bible (evangelicalism and Pentecostalism). The Sikh religion, you know, has a different god called Naam – and reveres the Guru Granth Sahib and the Vedas – totally false books according to the Bible. These are pagan religions to the God of the Bible. Although these religions may try to blend with Christianity – real Biblical Christianity will never try to blend with other religions. It’s like putting oil in a bucket of water – they won’t ever mix. The woman at the well was a Samaritan – they had a slightly different religion than the Jews held to. This is what Jesus said to her, “You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews” (John 4:22). The Bible’s Jesus is only for the Bible. He wants you to throw away all of your non-Christian religious books and turn to him with a full and single heart. The Jews in the Old Testament strayed from God and began to blend their worship of Baal with their worship of the Lord God. This allowed them to commit sexual immorality and feel okay about it. The prophet Elijah challenged them: “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him” (1 Kings 18:21). The people were saying that God #1 equals God #2 and vice versa. Elijah said no. You either worship God #1 or God #2 – they are not the same God. This fairy experience you had seems to have “confirmed” the false and anti-Biblical idea that the religions you are now blending ought to be blended, and that its okay for you to continue to do so. But I say no, just like Elijah did. If the Jesus of the Bible is God, then follow him, but if Naam is God, follow him. But don’t try to blend them. They are not the same. This angel fairy was a demon: it was supporting the notion of “another Jesus, whom we have not preached” (2 Corinthians 11:4). If the things I’ve said have persuaded you, and I pray they have, then pray this out loud:

“Heavenly Father, I am sorry for letting myself to get tricked by Sikhism. I turn away from this idolatrous false religion. I renounce the false god Naam, which I have worshiped. I now see that Sikhism has really no harmony with you, Jesus, the Gospel, or the Bible. I turn away from this false religion and now recognize that only through faith in the Jesus of the New Testament can I be saved from Hell and truly come to be led by the Holy Spirit and your angels. I reject and renounce this tinsel and fairy vision. I repent for calling them angels. They are demons from Hell. Lord Jesus, I don’t care how positive this vision of the tinsel and the fairies seemed to be – they were demonic because they were not Christian and were not communicating anything remotely Biblical. I turn to you on the cross with a heart full of faith in you. I put by faith in your blood that you spilled for me on the cross. God, you have been angry at me for my sins, but now I trust in what Romans chs. 3-8 says: that I can be justified (made right with God), and forgiven of my sins, by putting my faith in Jesus’ sacrifice of His life on the cross for the sins I have committed, namely idolatry. Thank you Lord Jesus, for stepping in my place, and taking my punishment for sin on the cross, so I would not have to be punished in Hell fire. Now, Lord, help me to devote myself to the reading of the Bible, and help me to follow your commands in the New Testament. In JESUS CHRIST’S name, Amen!”

If you are looking for some next next steps, I recommend getting a New International Version (NIV) Bible from a Christian bookstore. Or just go here – – and they have all kinds of Bible translations and commentaries by evangelicals on the right side of the screen.

Try to get a copy of Josh McDowell’s Handbook of Today’s Religions – chapter 10 shows that Sikhism is wrong and does not agree with the Bible –

John Boruff, you’re a disgrace. Denouncing someones positive religious experience because it doesn’t fit with your personal beliefs is tantamount to bullying.

I know your god and I think you are in for a nasty surprise when you come to meet him. You have more to answer for than you realise, your words above may have lead to something very terrible and nothing goes without consequence. Especially in the version of Christianity that you believe in.

You prey on the vulnerable. The prayer you suggested was outrageous and is no prayer at all. You have visions for yourself and they are visions of a CULT leader.

        You are a disgrace.

      • John Boruff says:

Hi Mindy, what religion or spirituality are you? Yes, I am a disgrace. But thanks be to Jesus Christ who can save me from sin…

I believe the red dot, or the cloven tongues as a fire that came down: some churches used to believe that: used to tarry for the Holy Ghost, and that’s what happened. I watched my husband receive the Holy Spirit: he said it was like fire all around them. For me, I’ve seen it coming down from the sky: and one time with my son, it came into the bedroom, and was just floating around the bedroom.
